Oh Gods... There was a lot to unpack here...
First off... it seemed that Voah's initial suspicions were being confirmed, that the Pillars could not reach Arcadia... not far anyway, and not without the faithful to bring them. It begged the questions: Did the Gods even create the faithful or was it the other way around? How far is a God's reach?
So the Inquisition had 'opened the way' for Vastad. With war? Of course... that made some sense, but what of his other aspect, justice? And what about the other Pillars? Surely Cambena, Hoi, Zinheim and Kupen were here already... weren't they?
Perhaps not... it might explain why she had felt so detached from all of them, like she could not reach them since coming to Arcadia… especially in this desert. It might explain why her boon of healing was failing, though she didn't even know by which God it had been granted... maybe it was all of them.
She instinctively looked down to the coyote bite on her arm. Perhaps the boon hadn't been revoked after all.
Vastad spoke as if he had no indication of her betrayal... or else... he wanted to hear a confession from the Arbiter herself...
He had called her his champion. Since when? Wasn't Margrave Otho a truer champion? Sure, she had bled heretics and heathens in his name, but she felt that Vastad had served as her own champion, being her driving force for all those years.
She had not been directly accused of heresy and betrayal by her deity, but the guilt was alive as ever within her. A part of her wanted to be defensive, to lash out at everything and everyone, including herself. But who had abandoned whom? The holy spirit of the Pillars had faded upon her departure from Helias.
