Bloody Spears

Voah dropped the bow at the side of a structure nearby and was soon face to face with one of the mounted raiders armed with a spear as he rounded the corner. The two swung at once, Voah knocked the spear to the left with her own whilst severing the man's arm with her Holy Sword. The force of her non-dominant arm was not enough to prevent the raider's spear from also connecting with her arm, tearing a short but deep gash in her upper arm. Always spears. She was starting to hate the damned weapons.

The raider must have been riding a trained warhorse because the horse reared, continuing it's own attack. The man, however, slipped from his saddle and clutched at his stump in the dirt and Voah did her best to evade the angry beast's hooves. They just caught her on her right side so she forced herself to perform a controlled tumble to mitigate the impact, abandoning the spear.

When she rose, she had the briefest of moments to dodge to the side and slash at the horse's side. This only angered the steed and it turned around and came back, but she grabbed up the spear again, put her sword to the side gripped it with two hands. She kept moving sideways. She didn't want to kill it, but it had to be done if she was to get away. Again, at the last moment, she darted out of its direct stamped and while stabbing forward and upward. She caught it the chest area, just below the neck and it made a nightmarish scream in pain as the spear snapped. The horse was not dead, but it no longer had the will to remain among the soldiers and ran off at a full gallop.

Voah threw away the broken shaft and picked up her sword and the bow again, heading closer to where Tarmen and Alexis were.
