Battle For Aquilo

JP with Bandorchu and Winteroak

The first arrows and darts started falling around the encampment shortly after. Mainly around the gathered miners and their tents that gathered whatever they could to use as weapons and improvised shields.

A group of around twenty rider bore down on them raising their spears and blades shouting as a loud war cry resonated across the settlement.

Another group of around fifteen riders made its way to the forges while arrowed 10 archers pelted the defender on both camps.

The battle for Aquilo had begun...

Alexis took aim with her war bow, focussing on the archers.

Staying in motion, she took as many shots as she could at them before she had to switch to her melee weapon in preparation for the riders headed their way, finding herself in the southern part of the Slag.

The first twenty riders clashed with the assembled miners near the sea of tents. Here and there the Odonine did their best to use the pitched ropes, canvas and stakes to at least delay the charge.

When they saw a horse tangled they would rush in groups of three and four to try and get their attackers unsaddled.

But it wasn't much of a contest, thirty miners armed with pickaxes, hammers and daggers against mounted adversaries with spears and swords.

The assembled miners broke easily. After a few short bloody minutes where metal hacked at flesh and bones, the miners started running away panicked. At least those that could run.

In the end only Markus stood with a few others in a circle swinging his great battle axe over his head.

In less than ten short minutes dozens of Odonine laid dead or wounded across the field of trampled tents while only five riders had been killed.

Some riders started to make their way to the forges to join in with the other group of brigands...
