Enter Sarah (Pt 1)
After the explosion, as soon as there was enough of Duuk reformed to collect in a canvas shopping bag, the leader of Amihan was whisked back home to their compound, while the other Amihan terrorists finished the ‘clean up’- liberating patients marked as metas as well as abducting any women that could make good breeding stock. These would all be brought to the compound after Duuk, whether they were willing or not.
Doron, Duuk’s trusted second in command, fit Duuk’s still-forming head into his mask and wrapped the rest of his forming body in a bathrobe. Duuk was always fully conscious of every tiny bit of his body even immediately after exploding, but of course he had very little control over his body until it was more knit together. Doron propped him up in a chair at the long wooden table. The table would gradually fill with other high ranking members of Amihan as they returned from the attack or from other parts of the compound completing various tasks.
Reports were brought in. The attack on Saint Vincent Hospital was considered a success because the message was put across and the manifesto had been distributed. Any metas taken from the hospital in the attack would join Amihan- even if they did not want to they would be too afraid not to after seeing what Amihan was capable of. Amihan had ways of making sure recruits would never leave. The baseline women- they would have no choice but to be used for breeding. Quasim was seeing to the newcomers along with the other Amihan metas with healing abilities- the meta recruits of course took priority but the baseline women would be treated too. There was more good news- Hilda was on her way home with some newcomers too. A healthy baseline male who had some combat training- he could be useful for labor if not fighting for Amihan after being indoctrinated. The other was a baseline female of breeding age, she could birth meta babies and was sympathetic to their cause.
As for Sarah, the lie about her being human would soon be very clear to Quasim. She had stayed in a deep slumber, even when they’d brought her along. An odd shield was formed around her body, hands resting on her stomach as she slowly healed herself. The shield itself was a shimmering gold that pulsed every few seconds, her breathing was even, and she appeared almost serene.
When she’d wake, aqua colored eyes would open and she would slowly sit up as the shield swirled around her body. She took in a slow breath, the scars along her skin glowing for a long moment before she looked around the room.
“Where am I?” She spoke in a soft voice.
Quasim smiled at Sarah. “You’re in Amihan.” He explained. She would have been useful as breeding stock as a baseline, but a meta female would be even more useful- she would be even more likely to give birth to meta children. This was a great day for Amihan.
“The group,” She murmured in understanding as she watched Quasim. “How did I get here? I was in an accident…my car…” Sarah’s eyes narrowed as her memory attempted to go through what all had happened. “The crash…they hit us…Razor…Esther…” Horror entered her eyes as she looked down at her hands and arms. “My friends…”
“We liberated several metas from the hospital.” Quasim said. “They’re probably here.”
“I hope so…Razor and Esther are important to me. They’re the closest to family I have…” Sarah admitted as her shield glimmered around her again.
“If they were not patients they may have not been collected but being metas they would have survived the attack with their powers.” Quasim said, grabbing some fresh forms to start a chart for Sarah. “Any biological children?”
“No, sire,” Sarah admitted. “My parents kicked me out when I was twelve and my power developed…it’s a healing shield, I think. That’s what Razor always calls it. He has acid for blood and Esther…her power is very…strange. I don’t know how to describe it.”
“Hmm. We’re still processing our newcomers.” Quasim knew that Duuk would want to make Razor a warrior. “Date of your last period?”
“...what day is it?” Sarah asked, needing that to figure out how to answer his question.
Quasim rattled off the day of the week and the date.
With this information, Sarah told him her period should be starting in a few days. “Why do you ask?” She inquired.
“The fertile days of all the women are tracked in Amihan.” Quasim replied.
“Are you suggesting you want me to get pregnant?” Sarah asked, intrigued.
“The most important thing meta women can do is give birth to more metas.” Quasim explained. “Since you have a healing ability there's a good chance you'll get to mate with me.”
Sarah seemed unimpressed with Quasim, but kept this opinion to herself. “So, you're saying whoever I'm with will actually want me?” She asked just before the door burst open.
Hilda stepped into the room and dropped Seele by Quasim with a frown on her face. “Careful with that one. She's a violent one.” She explained to him. “I already took her weapons and locked up that nasty boyfriend of hers. I suggest restraining her.”
“Want-?” Quasim was interrupted by Hilda’s arrival. He quickly and expertly had Seele restrained to a bed. He nodded towards Sarah. “There was an error on this one, this Sarah is a meta and needs to be transferred to the other newcomer meta females.” The way he was treating Seele was quite different from how he had been treating Sarah.
Hilda nodded and looked over Sarah. “We should have her given to Silver. He's been asking for a pretty one for years now.” She took a lock of Sarah’s gold hair and rubbed it between her fingers. “Can you walk, dear?”
Sarah nodded and got to her feet as she politely moved the blanket she'd been under aside. She made sure to properly fold it before going to the door.
Before following Hilda, she looked back at Quasim and gave him a polite curtsey. “Thank you for your kindness.” she said and with just that small life of her dress the scars on her legs were revealed.
“Come on, let's get you to Duck. He'll be very happy to have another healer in our group. Just let me drop this idiot off.” Hilda explained and on their way to Duck, she handed Lyle over to someone to take care of him.
At Duuk’s door, she knocked.
