Not A Haven (Pt. 5)

Yule grabbed the top edge of the armor and got onto her tip toes, pulling up to see what was happening. “Well, he’s de-definitely eating now…”

“Ugh…” Haven chose to not look. “Uh, is there a guard named Urbanus out there?”

“Not sure, but I hope he is getting killed.” Yule’s ears fell back. “I hate him.”

“Me too.” Haven had suffered a lot at his hands. “He was the worst.”

“Was? Is!” Yule shuddered and sat down next to Haven. “He hurt me last…”

“He put me in a cell with another meta from that Amihan gang, cult, whatever they are. He waited for him to be in the middle of, you know… and switched off my collar and made me kill him.” Haven shuddered.

Yule looked at her with sadness in her own blue eyes just before the armor separated to reveal Nero. The huge man looked at them both as he bit down on a leg and ate. He pointed with a blood caked finger at their necks. “Get off?” He asked.

“Uhm…can you?” Yule asked.

He nodded and dropped the leg, going to the pinkette first. With both hands, he easily broke the collar off, which explained why they never put one on him.

“Please?” Haven wanted to be in control of herself, her powers, never blocked again.

Nero broke the collar off for Haven before picking up both girls and carrying them outside where it turned out to be an icy world.

“North pole…” Yule said through chattering teeth.

Nero was unbothered by the cold and used some of the dead bodies to create some armor for the girls to hide in. They would stay warm due to his power.

Haven huddled under the gruesome armor. She was careful to not touch Yule or Nero.

Nero looked at them both. “Where go?” He asked, almost childlike now that he wasn’t aggressive.

Yule stayed within her bit of armor and glanced around. “Uh…”

“Is there anywhere to go?” Haven asked. “If it’s the north pole…”

“I…I don’t know.” Yule mewled in dismay.

Nero grunted and pointed toward the door where Riley was, a snake sitting on his head.

“Nero what's going on?” Riley asked in a concerned tone.

“Free!” Nero said, gesturing around them. He was still in his armor so it looked odd.

Yule just looked Haven. “This is weird, right?”

Haven looked at Riley. Considering how most of the men she met assaulted her she had reasons to be wary.

“You three have to get out of here then before Thrane shows up” Riley replied in a worried tone.

Nero looked around again.

“We’re in the North Pole.” Yule called to Riley. “There is nowhere to go!” She wanted to weep.

“Can you keep them warm?” Riley asked Nero.

“Yes,” Nero said bluntly.

“ok then we need to get you the 3 some supplies. I remember younger me learning in one of the facilities about the north pole once.I think there's some research stations” he replied “Loreen might know about them we have find her and you need to get her out of here.”

Riley was not acting like he was going to attack them so Haven tried to calm down.

“Aunt…” Nero said, staring at the door. Turning his gaze back to Yule and Haven, he was conflicted on what to do.

“We’ll stay here. Your armor can keep us safe, right?” Yule said.

He nodded.

Haven quietly accepted her fate. Nobody was hurting her. Freezing to death was a kinder death than life in MegaCorp.

Riley Looked to Nero “Do you know where she is right now?”

Nero made sure the armor around the girls was set up to keep them warm for a few hours before going to Riley. “No…never know.” He said and reached out to pet Slither. The snake stared at him for a moment before climbing up to sit upon his head now.

It was like looking at a little beast staring down from her throne now.

“There's a supply room near as lot of her patients we'll Check on the way.” He assured Nero “we have to keep moving.” Looking at his hands he clenched it and steadied his breathing “no matter what happens you get them out of here including Loreen if you have to.”

Nero grabbed Riley by the arm and turned him around to look at his neck. “Haven.” He said her name, looking at her as he tapped the back of Riley’s neck.
