Drive, Drive Drive!

Evie was limp and unconscious in Riley’s arms, but a bolt of lightning from the storm still raging above them came shooting right for them.

Riley raised the rod catching the lightning and throwing it at Thrane as he ran. Eventually he made it back to the van his left arm burned from the lightning and hanging at his side.

“Jesus, Riley!” Loreen said as she went over to him with River. “Let me have her. River has the paste for the burns…”

River had a full jar in her hand of the paste that would help heal his arm.

Riven was fingering his pendant and went over, taking Evie from him. He gazed at her with awe in his eyes as he took her with Loreen to check her vitals.

Alex floored it once everyone was inside.

Riley laid down on the floor of the van “it's ok i can't feel it”

“That’s not good,” River said as she began to apply the paste to his arm. Picking up a jar, she pulled out a few berries and held them out to him. “Eat these. They’ll help you relax and take the pain away.”

Riley nodded and ate them before sighing as they took effect.

River slowly added the paste, making sure he was comfortable as she did so. “That was pretty fast. Why does it feel like he let you grab her?” She asked.

“He probably did” Alex replied “we'll take her to a safe house and check for trackers.”.

“Good idea,” Loreen said, but she was already looking over Evie for any trackers. There was no need to take any risks.

Riley laid down, closing his eyes for a moment.

“How are you?” River asked as she wrapped up Riley’s arm with bandages.

“Like I caught and threw lightning.” Riley replied “didn't know I could do that.”

“Well, you are a speedster,” River said with a soft laugh. “You can do a lot of things.”

“Wouldn't recommend it though” he chuckled can't feel my arm.

“That’s probably a good thing right now. The paste will help it heal.” River explained and checked his forehead for a temperature that was uncommon for speedsters.

Riley was burning hot but not in a way dangerous for speedsters. Only heat dissipating from his running.

“Don’t feel sick…just heat from the speed.” River commented and pulled back, looking toward Evie. She was still unconscious.

“I don’t detect any trackers. We’ll have to use that device of yours when we reach the safe house, Alex.” Loreen called.

Alex nodded as he continued to drive.
