Mission: Get The Storm (Pt 1)

Later he would be found waiting in Alex's van in the back staring out the window but not really there.

River would slip in first and sit next to Riley. “Are you okay?” She asked softly.

Loreen knew that look all too well and kept silent. He needed his space, but also someone who could comfort him.

Riven would hop in and get comfortable in the front seat, biting down on some food he had brought with him. He also had a binder with Evie’s file in it. Something about her perplexed him and he wanted to study the file in an attempt to understand her power a bit more. “Ya got the GPS ready, Alex?” He asked, making sure that Radar buckled up.

“Yeah we're heading out” Alex answered looking in the mirror at Riley and hating himself as he drove out of the hideout and towards the location.

Riley said nothing only shaking his head as he looked at her. His eyes showed her that he had been crying before they had arrived.

River didn’t say anything else and hugged Riley.

Riven growled at Radar. “Seat belt, boy! Seat belt!”

Radar nodded and strapped himself in before looking at his laptop “ judging by the weather patterns, it's most likely she'll be at the destination. Containing her, though, will be a different thing altogether.”

Riley slowly hugged her back his body shaking.

“She’s called The Storm for a reason,” Riven muttered as he looked over Evie’s file. “From my understanding, when she goes into The Storm state, she is highly dangerous and capable of destroying an entire city in one strike, but once this is over she has a calming period of needed rest. From the sounds of it and the weather patterns, this is legit. Though, a storm does stick around after her attack. It also follows her, which is why we’re heading to the destination because of said weather patterns, as Radar stated.”

Radar nodded “Alex device should work but getting close might be problematic Riley theoretically could survive getting hit by lightning due to his biology. However just in case I assume you can restart a heart Loreen?”

“Yes, but we should have a back up ready in case he can’t get to her.” Loreen suggested.

“I can make my ice cold enough to freeze lightning…” Riven said, fingering the trinket he wore around his neck. No one knew what it was for but him.

“Let's try the diplomatic approach first” Alex replied “poor girls probably been through hell.”

Riley had fallen asleep as they all talked.

“Something tells me diplomatic approaches won’t work if Thrane is with her.” Loreen replied with a yawn as she looked over her supplies. When was the last time she had gotten real rest? A part of her was now envious of Riley.

“Come nightfall we'll grab a hotel or pitch our tents somewhere” Alex said as he noticed Loreen’s Yawn. “River that back seat folds into a bed if any one needs a power nap.”

River was comfortable letting Riley lean on her for rest. “Go ahead, Loreen.” She said kindly.

Loreen gave the girl a look before moving to the back seat to change it into a bed and try to sleep. It was…difficult.

“On the road again…” Riven muttered in a sing-song voice.

Radar took more notes of Loreen and River interacting.

It would be nightfall before they got close and had to pitch up tents. They could already see the storm that was growing closer and closer to the city they wanted to reach.

“Those are some nasty clouds…” Riven commented as he ate some meat he’d cooked for everyone over a fire.

“Safe to assume she's close” Radar nodded.

Alex gave Loreen a look before gesturing to Riley who was sitting by himself to get some air.
