That Little Glimmer Love...
Taw hung her head as Hilda whisked her away. She felt so defeated and lost.
“What the hell- Hilda!” Nilima protested. “You’re his favorite mate- not letting Taw have her baby, it’s cruel!”
“I will do what I can, just into your room, Nilima.” Hilda whisper-hissed at the woman and shoved her into her room. She had dropped off Seele first and now Nilima. She was planning to secretly let Taw see her child before getting her to her room, but she had to keep up appearances until it was just the two of them.
Taw silently hated her life. Her baby was taken from her, her friends, she did not know what was going to happen to Jasper either.
“I’m sorry about what’s going to happen to Jasper…” Hilda whispered as darkness enveloped them both and they were suddenly in the nursery where Taw’s child was right before them. “Make this quick. I have to get you to your room before Duuk returns there.”
Taw gasped. She had never thought that Hilda would bring her here. She scooped up her baby, counting her tiny fingers and toes and cuddling this tiny perfect being. She would never let go…
Hilda would let Taw have a few minutes before her power made the woman release the baby. It was a bit of a mental grapple, knowing how much Taw loved the baby, even without seeing her until now. The darkness user visited her children when she could, but knew that one day they would follow Duuk’s orders…it frightened her.
She was a mother of two sons now, after all.
“We need to get you back to your room, Taw.” She said.
“Please, I can’t leave my baby.” Taw’s eyes filled with tears.
“If you go back to that room with your child, Duuk will do more than just…” Hilda shook her head, not wanting to say it. “Put the child back, please.” It was rare for her to use the word ‘please’.
Taw shook her head, cradling her baby against herself, by how the baby turned their head to her they were hungry. She did not want to go back to that room ever. Nothing good ever happened there, just constant abuse from Duuk, Quasim and whatever friend or high ranking male meta Duuk felt like rewarding with bedding her. “Don’t make me go back there.”
“Until we have a way out, you must go back.” Hilda warned her before her power wrapped around Taw and pulled the baby away. “I’m sorry.”
“No!” Taw let the blanket drop as she desperately tried to reach her baby.
Hilda had the baby back in its crib as her darkness transported Taw and her blanket back to her room. She dared not go there with her, staring down at the child as tears spilled down her face. How could she face Taw when she could not protect her own children?
Taw slammed her body against her door. She could swear she could hear her baby crying for her. She pounded on the door with her fist, then slammed her body against the door again and again. She was going to hurt herself but she was frantic.
