A Light In the Dark

Seele tried to get the door open and froze when she found it locked. Looking toward Taw with horror in her own eyes, she shook in fear. There was no escaping this hell, was there? As much as she wanted to fight these horrible men, she knew there was no way to win. They had power and she was just a simple human that couldn't have children.

“I'm sorry…” She whispered as she met Taw’s gaze.

Taw did not speak but her eyes were pleading as Quasim began ‘healing’ her. It obviously hurt.

Doron noticed Seele stuck at the door, it locked that way so Taw could never escape. Duuk had Taw quite pinned so Doron rose and walked over to Seele. He grabbed her chin and studied her. “We should knock out these teeth.” he mused, his free hand roaming.

Seele flinched away, keeping her mouth firmly closed. She did not wish to lose her teeth. The first time she'd bitten someone she'd learned her lesson quickly and had not done it again. Why was Doron making threats when she'd done nothing wrong?

Doron very explicitly told Seele why he wanted Seele to not have teeth and what he wanted her to do.

Quasim was grunting loudly.

They were interrupted by the blaring alarm. Quasim jumped off of Taw. Duuk swore and hit a button on a fob to shock Seele. Doron shoved her further into the room. Duuk went to the door, unlocked it. Duuk, Quasim and Doron ran out, slamming and locking the door behind themselves.

Taw half crawled to the door and tried to open it, she had hoped for once the door would not be locked. But it was locked. She knew that the alarm meant that the compound was under attack. Being someone who was born and raised in Amihan her first fear was that the baselines were going to kill the children in the nursery. Her baby…

Seele, once over the shock and pain, was up and by Taw’s side, trying to open the door. She shook in horror and banged on the door hard, silently begging for help.

Help that would never come. Like always.

“We can’t open the door from this side without one of the fobs.” Taw said, fighting panic. She went to her dresser but the drawers were still all empty, Duuk had taken all of her clothes away weeks ago to humiliate her. She grabbed a blanket from the bed and wrapped herself in it. “Your people must be invading for that alarm to be going off… my baby…” She whimpered.

Seele was mute most of the time, so she didn't answer and just kept banging on the door in desperation. She did not cry, did not express any emotion, but she had a great amount of doubt that anyone, baseline or meta, would come to save them. They probably didn't even care about the children.

That was when the door suddenly opened and a familiar man stepped in, holding the door open. “Taw, come on,” He said in a gentle tone, his left eye glancing around and suddenly noticing Seele. “Uh, you too, I guess…”

It was Jasper, the only friend that Taw had.
