Captain Vanessa Miller is tired of being just another corporate cog, her dreams of independence growing stronger by the day. She knows that if she could just make enough money to get her own ship, she could finally control her own fate out on the Frontier. The company has dangled a tempting offer--a lease-to-buy option on the Montero--but it's not worth much unless she can afford the upgrades needed to make the ship profitable. Without an engine overhaul to haul bigger loads, she's losing thousands of dollars every day. Miller needs a way to secure enough cash to upgrade the Montero, or, even better, go independent and replace the old ship with something newer and more capable.
