BGG: Landing Zone Part 3

The water helped but boy did that dust get everywhere. He was still coughing but at least he could get a breathing. His eyes stung and were irritated and his skin felt like it was on fire. It spun his head and made him dizzy so his footing was less than sure as Mal helped him up

Mal picked Cain up over his shoulder and grabbed the remaining water bottles to shove in his pockets. Keeping his gun trained in front of them, he carried Cain up the stairs out into the fresh air, watching for anyone who may creep up on them. “Hang on, kiddo, just a little longer, get back to the boat, fix you right up.” He told him.

Cain coughs and wheezed, dripping wet all the way up. The world passing by in a blur.

Dogo set the charges all too eager to blow this shit hole up now. He tilts his head looking at a box. Opening it he sees it filled with blister packs of black pills. He can only assume it’s Carbon copy. He grabbed a fist and jammed a bunch into his pocket. More than enough to make Kimura happy in the lab. The rest could burn up in the explosion.

Mal gave three sharp whistles so Dogo would hurry his ass up, as he watched the perimeter. He wanted to get the fuck out of there and get Cain some help before… well, he wasn’t sure what would happen, that was the point. The drug did a shit ton of damage to norms. Cain was an Anom, Nothing better happen to Cain, or Mal would burn the whole damn island himself.

Dogo took the steps two at a time. Giving a sharp whistle as he jogged up to Mal. He motioned if he needed help with Cain. If only so they could get some distance away faster before he detonated the place.

Mal shook his head. He still had Cain in a fireman carry, the easiest way to carry someone, and still move pretty fast. He ducked his head down when they heard gunshots, but they also seemed off in the distance. He covered Cain’s head with one hand, preventing his brother from being hit with the branches and limbs In his other hand, he aimed his rifle, maintaining as good a perimeter as he could.

Dogo motioned for Mal to run, detonating the charges. That should keep them busy for a bit.

The boom, even at the distance they were at rang their ears. The plum of fire visible through the trees. Dogo was a huge proponent of overdoing it when it came to explosives.

If Mal wasn’t so worried about Cain and getting him help, he’d have enjoyed the display which rumbled the ground beneath their feet. And even at a flat out run, he could feel the heat behind them. “Keep going,” he told his brother,

Dogo fired back at the persuaded. If he had a voice he would have urged Mal on but at the moment he kept pace covering their retreat.

More gunshots in the distance, and then the sound of running, heading their way, whatever stealth they had, the lost the minute the building went up.

When they got to the shore, Mal was dismayed to find their boat, which he could have sworn was secured, floating off.

Dogo didn’t stop. He didn’t know how the hell that happened but he was not letting it get away and dove in the water after it. They were not getting stuck in this shitty ass island!

Mal waded into the water, Cain still slung over his shoulders as he watched Dogo swimming out to the boat.

Nikita lay flat in the boat, trying to get the damn motor started. This was not what she signed on for! She could feel the boat drifting, and hoped it got her far enough from the shoreline that the bullets didn’t hit. Her thoughts went to Nikka and Nike and Bishop, the thought of never seeing them again would have brought tears to her eyes if she wasn’t so angry at this stupid ass motor for not turning over!

Dogo swam to catch up to the escaping Zodiac mentally cursing up a storm. And he reached for the rope that lined the edges of the boat. The last thing he expected was a bikini-clad chick in the boat.

Nikita yelped, kicking at the hand that grabbed the perimeter line of the boat. “I didn’t see anything!” She protested in a panicked voice.

Dogo … did not know how to address this without a gun pointing at her. He had so many questions but first thing first. Half in the boat he used the tip of his gun to motion for her to get away from the engine.

Nikita scooted back away from him, holding her hands up. “I won’t say anything! I swear!”

Dogo climbed in, his gun trained on the girl. He motioned for her to get back to the sharp motion of the gun pointing to the front of the zodiac. Great, this was just peachy, just what they needed, Dogo eyed the girl, glancing at the engine. If she fucked with it and he had to row, he was going to shoot her out of frustration.

“I can explain,” she tried, holding up one hand, which, in her panic started to glow a vibrant orange and pink color. “No, no no no no,” she said under her breath, trying to get it back under control.

Well, shit. Had to be a Jennie, didn't it? He didn’t if she was a walking nuke or not or if this was some elaborate act and he wasn’t in the mood to get exploded. So he held up both hands let the gun drop and let it hang on his finger by the trigger guard.

Nikita hesitated for a moment, not knowing quite what to do, seeing as she’d never held anyone hostage before. “Get this thing started,” she ordered, motioning to the engine with her non glowing hand, hoping he didn’t call her bluff.

Mal whistled three times from the shore, growing impatient.

Dogo gave a sharp bird-like trill back as he holstered his gun and yanked the cord the engine roared to life and whipped the Zodiac around to pick up Mal and Cain.

“Wrong way!” Nikita told him, using a construct of hard light to push him away from the motor. No way was she going back to get killed! The light was an extension of her fist, popping the interloper in the nose before dissipating. It hit with the intensity of a snow cone, shattering into hundreds of tiny pieces on impact.

Dogo did not appreciate his snoot being booped. The hit stumbled him back and nearly fell off as he held onto the rudder of the motor jerking the Zodiac to the side and nearly tipping them over. It took a hot second to get his balance back and the Zodiac under control. Yea, he was done being nice, he whipped out the gun aimed at her and pulled the hammer back. His narrowed daring her to try that shit again.
