Skye Life: Gone

Nothing. The light of the park flickered on as Mathias tried to catch his breath. Nothing. “Dammit.” He hissed turning to trod home.

Serena was overwrought, sobbing what Cyd thought, was complete gibberish.

Mathias walked up the stairs opening the door and closing it behind him letting out a long breath.

He didn’t have to say a word, Serena’s shoulders dropped, and shrugged Cyd off with a shove. Vas was gone. She felt just as alone as when he packed her in the back of a truck all those years ago.

“We need to talk. Not now. But soon.” Mathias said quietly.

Serena’s sobs turned into hiccups, as she looked at her brother with big sad eyes, feeling utterly helpless. She ducked Cyd’s attempt at a hug, then locked herself in what was Vas’s room, hoping if she closed her eyes tight enough and wished hard enough he’d be back.
