Rave on - Trickle In
Olin set up a loop and went to take a breather as the rave-goers started trickling in. Serena led Vas in and grabbed a couple of helium balloons for her and Vas before blending in with the crowd.
Cyd or rather, DJ Digi Kitty bounced on her toes as the lights started to flash and EDM filled the tunnel. It was a decent turn-out, 50 or 60 kids, which for the area meant Mathias would make some good cash selling his party favors. Her eyes scanned the crowd, the majority of girls in pigtails, making her wish she’d tied a balloon or something to her sister. At least Mathias…. She scanned until she found his red jacket - Mathias was on the floor.
Once Serena was present and accounted for, Cyd slipped behind the stage to check on Olin.
“Candy man!” One of the ravers, a tall girl who called herself Nova hollered to him. “Whatcha got?”
“Depends on what you're looking to feel? You wana fly? Feel the music in your soul? Vibe of the folk around you?” Mathis said with a pleasant smile.
“Feel the music!” She called back, flashing cash his way.
“Drink lots of water.” Mathias advised passing a baby blue pill with a third eye engraved on it from inside his jacket, trading it for the cash. “And have fun.” He winked.
The girl overcompensated with a laugh and danced back into the crowd.
“Candy Man!” Another voice Mathias would have recognized called from behind him. The raver boy with long hair and pork chops for side burns held out his hand to shake. His raver name was “Banks,” he came from the city down to ‘slum it’ in the raves. His cash flow earned him the nickname. “Tell me you got something new?”
“What bored of the regular stuff?” Mathias teased digging in his inner jacket.
“Brought some kids from my neck of the woods, I promised ‘em something special!” Banks said, nodding his head towards a small group of well off kids trying their best to look like they weren’t for whatever reason. “You know me. Share the wealth, and there ain’t shit on our side of the tracks.”
“New. Don’t have a lot but …” Mathias put up a warning finger. “ … for best results, you wana get close to the music. Still working out the kinks, so get your pacifiers and eye drops ready … it’s an hour-long ride.” The red-jacketed drug slinger said holding up baggies of thin cherry colored wafers with a devil's face printed on them. “You up for it?”
“Hell yeah, I am!” Banks replied, peeling bills off a decent-sized stack. “I brought goodie bags for all. Listen, I got a birthday coming up, you deliver in my neck of the woods?”
“No can do. I am only one man and your neck of the woods is owned.” Mathias explained, exchanging money for the Red Devils. “I plan on living long and with all my piggies still attached. No double dosing and make sure to look up when you feel buzzy, you’ll be dazzled.” He said patting Banks on the shoulder. “Enjoy!”
Someone bear-hugged Mathias from behind. “Hey hey Candy Man,” Serena giggled, holding him tightly. Her voice was awkward from the giant lollipop which puffed out one of her cheeks like a hamster held on the side of her mouth.
“Well, hello what is a pretty little pigtail girl like you doing at a rave like this with a big bad wolf like me.” Mathias laughed.
“Aroooo!” Serena giggled, switching the pop to the other side. “Look, I got three Kandi and I only had to give two!” She shook her wrist for emphasis. “This place is on fire tonight!”
“It’s Friday night … and Olin is pretty popular. ” Mathias said shimmying a Kandi cuff done up in candy-colored micro beads onto her wrist. A pattern of a grinning skulls woven in. “To add to your collection.” More like mark his sister as touch or die. He was still a big brother after all.
“It’s so piratey!” She giggled, pointing to the sparkly beads. “And that means we can come to the after-after party too?”
“Ask your sister. The well has dothe run dry over here.” Mathias was only willing to take half the blame for Serena’s ‘corruption’. Honestly, though he saw nothing wrong with it but then again look how he turned out.
“Noooooooo,” Serena drew out. “I’m avoiding Cyd on account of then I have to play sit by the stage and don’t do anything. “
"Ooooh she's not … well … asked her later." Mathis said after some thought draping an arm around the girl's shoulders. "Now go have fun, you’re stick in the mud brother has gotta make rent money." He chuckled shooing his sister to the heart of the crowd.
“Those girls back there want Candy,” Serena called to him. “Not this Kandi, your kind. Oh! And Click said to say no hard feelings.”
"Don't talk to Click. Don't go near Click. You see Click you walk away. He's on my shit list." Mathias frowned. "No hard feelings. Ms. Wacky says no hard feelings." He muttered sauntering off to. "See how he likes them hard feelings …"
