Skye Life - The Set Up

Putting together a rave wasn’t easy - but it was, for the Skye’s a labor of love. Mathias worked hard in the upcoming week making sure to have plenty of party favors on hand - and even managed to secure a tank of helium and two tanks of nitrous. Cyd for her part found the perfect venue - A left over tunnel which used to connect one highway to the next, even though the highways were long gone. No one traveled through the sprawl, there was no need for mulit car lanes; what there was a need for was housing. But even that was a project abandoned when contractors ran out of funds, making it a decent location.

Raves moved around through the city and sprawl which made it harder for the Jaggs to find and put a stop to. This place had been on Cyd’s radar for a while, and with Olin coming - she wanted it to be perfect.

Serena’s job was to get the word out, which admittedly was made a little more difficult with Vas tagging along. Even in street clothes, he looked like some sort of Jagg, or soldier - it was the way he carried himself, shoulders back, head up, perfect posture and the menacing sunglasses didn’t help either. But with some help from other rave bunnies - word spread like wildfire, especially the part about Olin being the DJ himself.

Cyd had texted Olin throughout the week about equipment, She had some basics, second-hand turntables, a laptop, and enough beats to start him off. Bringing anything decent was a risk because things walked off in the sprawl all the time, so she left that to his discretion.

Mathias chit-chatted with some of the early arrivals who were more then happy to help fill some blue and pink balloons instance for a freebie. Work smarter, not harder. He was looking pleased with himself as he anchored the party balloons.

Olin was beaming when he arrived. It was every inch the what the imagined it to be. The uniqueness of the Raves in the Spwarl was its free spirit. Rave could be anywhere and hardly the same place twice, not for awhile at lead. It made each event unique. “Oh, the acoustics are going to be killer.” He said awed. Online brightened he smiled broadening when he saw Cyd. “Cyd! This is amazing!” He said padding over to her.

Cyd was standing on a folding chair putting some finishing touches on pseudo blacklights - made with markers and paint - opposite the strobe lights when she heard Olin’s voice. She drew in a sharp breath as he put a hand on her back to help steady her as she worked, and his touch sent sparks to all the right places. The thirst was strong, butterflies danced in her stomach, up and over her breasts. He smelled like vanilla and cinnamon, warm, enticing, impossible to ignore or resist. Her heart beat a little faster, thinking about their night together, the thought difficult to push aside. Taking a second to compose herself, she looked over her shoulder and flashed him a genuine smile as the lights on her cat ear headphones blinked off and on. “You are going to kill tonight. The crowd is going to flip!” She practically cooed.

“I hope hoping to impress the person that matters most. I won’t disappoint.” Olin said brushing a lock of golden hair out of his eyes. “Anything I can help with before I set up?” He offered.

Yes, she inwardly said, thinking again of their last night together. There is soooo much you can help with. Later, she hoped -she wished as she bit her lip. Mentally she scolded herself, now wasn’t the time. Focus. “Tonight, you, sir,” Cyd said, mimicking Varan’s haughty voice as she hopped down off the chair. Remembering Varan helped cool down the urge to kiss Olin’s soft lips, almost as if she were doused with water. “You are the talent. Ice cold drinks are in the cooler, you may want to run a few sound checks, and then just loop something for when the crowd starts filtering in. DJ Digi Kitty will introduce you to the dias - and trust me, you will not need any hype up.”

“Tsk … every good DJ needs a good hype. I’ll go get set up then.” He nodded his eyes lingered on Cyd a hair before heading to the dais to put his rig together. Not knowing how big or small the set was going to be he opted for a small more mobile setup, His turntable was half the size but had a tone with more options and effects. His laptop, a mixer, and a grid-like device. Some kind of Midi controller. It was a sleek setup, small and all fit into his backpack. It was always smart to be lightweight, even Olin had run from all kinds of authority figures when they came to break up a good rave. So he made sure his setup could be quickly scooped up if needed.

The butterflies settled back down as Olin went back to the DJ Dais, and Cyd stepped back onto the chair to finish the blacklight wall. She knew she was acting as immature as Serena whenever a cute boy called her name, but at the same token, there was something about Olin that brought that out, especially when he was close.

“I think we’re good!” She called over to her brother. “Turn it up up up!”
