Light and Dark

Dahlia looked at the title. “Nod?” she surprisingly stated. “As in the land Cain settled into when cast away for the murder of Abel? Our vampire, John Shepherd, stated the evil vampires delve into the mythology of the family line of Cain.”

Ekaterina elegantly smiled at Dahlia as she replied, "It seems there may be some truth to these vampire clans." Then Ekaterina began reading the PDF on her phone before she sent a copy to Dahlia. Then she did a search on Ass-mite and butt bug on the PDF and had a puzzled expression on her face. Then she asked Agent Powers, "Mr. Powers, what was the name of the clan you said your vampire was from?"

Agent Powers shrugged as he replied, "Oh umm it was Ass-mite or Butt Bug. I remember it was a funny name like that. Why do you ask?"

Ekaterina then showed him page 53 and said, "Well there just so happens to be a vampire clan listed here as the Assamites. Dahlia, did your source mention any of these clans as well?" Ekaterina sent the screen shot of page 53 to Dahlia.

"Alyssa, is there any way you could figure out the structure of the "Camarilla, and how they differ from the "Anarchs?" asked Sartre.

“Several of these,” Dahlia insisted, “were spoken of by Shepherd. Giovanni, Toreador, Tzimisces. Any other, Yeong?”

Choi thought. “There was the Phoenix Society, whose theme song is "7".

“The name Uriel,” Dahlia inserted, “means Light of God. It is the name of an archangel.”

“He also spoke of a path,” Choi added, “called Golconda.”

Dahlia wondered if this was the path to the presence she had sensed. “Do we go to Hyderabad? Fort Golconda?”

Ekaterina did a quick search on the PDF and found a reference to Golconda on page 18. She then elegantly replied, "On page 18 there is a reference to Golconda. It says 'Golconda is held out as a final goal, perhaps balancing all these things and showing the transcendence of the Beast Within.’ This makes it seem like Golconda is a state of being rather than a place. What do you think, Dahlia?”

Choi joked, “It kind of sounds like the balancing of the light and dark side of the force.”

“Remember,” Dahlia spoke to Kat, “one the flight here, I spoke of Cain and Abel.” She wondered if that was a coincidence or if the source of life within her was giving her some foreknowledge. “The Creative source said to Cain, ‘You may overcome sin/evil that is crouching to take you.’ We who follow the way of the Kabbalah seek that Creative force within us. It sounds as if those who follow Cain seek the darkness that is within them, not the light of creation.”

Agent Powers gave them a smolder as he listened to what they were saying. In all truth it sounded like a video game he played off and on when alone, but he was not about to mention he was a teenager who liked to play video games alone since he had no friends. Then he replied, "So each one of the clans has some kind of trademark to them and they have been around a long time, huh?"

Ekaterina nodded elegantly as she replied, "This is some deep biblical stuff. If we were to read all the old texts related to this we may get overwhelmed.”

“I can help with the Torah,” Dahlia confessed. “My saba (grandfather) used to read and teach me from it.”

"It'll take some doing but I can, likely, get the structure and how the clans differ. Help with the Tora would be very useful. I'm not any kind of scholar on those things." She had more knowledge than some but less than someone like Dahlia, because religion was never a focus for her. Alyssa hated that she knew so little about all of this. "It looks like I'll be spending the day researching then." Which was fine by the hacker. "Dahlia, will you be available for the day to help me make sense of these things?”

Ekaterina looked at the others and elegantly smiled as she said, "If we are having a study group, Mr. Powers can take care of our meals for the ones doing research, right Mr. Powers?" Agent Power gave Ekaterina a smolder and then nodded as he replied, "Yeah sure.”

Dahlia looked to Choi. She had enjoyed working with him. They had begun to gain knowledge of each other. There seemed to be a mutual attraction.

Choi nodded. Dahlia and Alyssa seemed to be more of Choi’s partner than the one he was actually assigned to. Speaking of which, Eun-Ji wasn’t here yet. Neither was sung. Marina was absent as well. If Alyssa needed Dahlia to help her, Choi would find something in his skill set to do.

“Alright, Alyssa,” Dahlia affirmed. “I will work with you today.”

"Thanks, anyone else that wants to help is more than welcome to." Alyssa figured, the tasks could always be divided up among them.

Alyssa's phone buzzed, "Oh. Apparently, Marina has been recalled for another mission or, at least sent back to the Council's headquarters.”

“Whatever is needed,” Choi stated, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. The newest member of the team has been recalled and Eun-Ji is most likely off doing her own thing without Marina here to keep her in check. He gave Master Sung the benefit of the doubt. This wasn’t like him.

"Alyssa, do you think we could find this Modius "Prince of Gary" and perhaps interview him, we will have to be very careful and follow whatever rules their society has." said Sartre.

"I'll need to look into it." Alyssa responded, because there currently wasn't enough information to go off of to know.

"If there's enough of us, maybe we should just use this room." If she needed her van, this room was closer and a hotel room would be crowded. "Max, can you help me get a few things out of my van? Peter, can you keep an eye on my laptop?”

Agent Powers nodded as he gave Alyssa a smolder, then a reply, "Yeah sure thing." He then moved to help Alyssa get her things together.

“I’ll get my laptop,” Dahlia stated. Hers was very secure, compliments of the Mossad. “Do you need anything, Kat?”

Ekaterina got up and elegantly smiled as she replied, "I'll get my laptop as well.”

"I'll watch your laptop." Sartre said.

When Alyssa and Max returned they were carrying a few things, a wireless printer, a box full of random office supplies, another box of printer paper and a rectangular black flattish device with a few buttons and lights on the top. Alyssa set to work getting the printer set up, then she set up the black box.
