Heart Eater Strikes (Part 1)

Klaire stared at Riley in silence for a long moment. “Well, talk.” She said sternly. “Where the fuck is Ami?”

“When I was in my room at the hospital a voice spoke to me and I don’t mean the ghost of my pasts the voice cut through all of that madness.” He explained running his hand through his hair. “It led me out of the city from there one of them took me to this cave where a girl was sealed in crystal. If Ami’s powers are similar to the one from my world that’s where they would have taken her. I was shown a fraction of the world's truth and could barely handle it. Ami with her powers would be able to handle it.”

Taking a seat on the bed he let out a tired sigh before burying his face in his hands.

“What did you see? What did They show you, Riley?” Klaire asked, keeping her voice as calm as she could. This information was still hard to accept. All the monsters they’d run into were the cruel shadows that killed people. If these versions of They weren’t so prone to violence, that meant there were two sides of them…and possibly two different leaders…

“That they're not all evil and that they're not unified” he replied looking down “The girl in the crystal I think she might be the missing piece to get all of you guys home.” Fidgeting with his hands he continued “It's not a guarantee but if it's possible I will make sure you get home to your family.”

“And if you can’t?” Klaire asked with a frown. “We have to get Ami back. Are you sure she’s not…not being hurt?”

“I'll find a way no matter what” he replied with conviction he didn't want her to end up like he did “I'm positive she's fine when I couldn't catch up they spoke to me and said she'd be back at sunrise.”

Klaire started to reply, but when she heard the commotion, she snatched up her rifle and rushed out into the hall, raising the gun toward the door. “Oh, God…” She gasped with wide eyes.

Heart Eater had broken into the house…

Riley rushed out beside her his eyes widening as he realized Seth’s room was the closet to the monster.

The deer-like skull of a head jerked slightly and tilted to the side as glowing eyes zeroed in on Klaire. “Long time no see, bitch.” The creature growled out and lifted its clawed hands to its chest where it dug into its own chest.

“Shit, run!” Klaire yelled and rushed toward Seth’s room. She took a shot at Heart Eater as she went, the bullet hitting, but obviously having no effect. “Seth!”
