Normalcy For Green

Amit approached Kimber's room gently knocking on the door.

Kimber had the door open, so when she heard the knock, she turned to look at him. “Hm?” She hummed.

“You ok you seem to understand more about this place than I do” he replied leaning against the door.

“This is my home,” Kimber said as she grabbed a tool and worked on something at her left wrist. It sparked a bit, making her fingers on that hand twitch a little. “I just wish these people would listen to me instead of running around all crazy. Even Klaire is smarter than them and they won’t listen to her.”

“Sounds like they got a lot of baggage they’re dealing with” He replied as he watched her work “we humans let our emotions get the better of us all the time.”

“I noticed that,” Kimber set the tool aside and closed the compartment she’d been working in on her arm. The image of her green skin reappeared and made it appear as if there was no metal of any kind there anymore. She flexed the fingers of the hand to make sure it was working properly. “Prosthetic. I made it myself when I lost my left arm to one of Them.”

Amit studied her arm in amazement “It's beautiful I've never seen anything like it or I come from prosthetic are pretty basic.”

“Well, the city here has a lot of technology…though, I have a very bad feeling most of the people are dead now.” Kimber shook her head. “I told Whisp that Mee was going to be nothing but trouble…”

“I’m just glad you weren’t part of the casualties” he replied “Seems like a lot of people don’t like the lizard I noticed Klaire and Altus didn’t.”

“That thing is an annoyance that gets everyone in trouble with its antics.” Kimber explained and got to her feet, setting all her tools in their box. Closing the box, she slid it beneath her bed.

Amit tried to be respectful and looked away as she bent down to put the tools away. It was obvious he found himself attracted to her but didn’t want to seem like a pervert.

Kimber stood up again and dusted off her jeans before turning to look at Amit. “You want to sleep in here tonight? The bed is big enough.” She offered.

Amit blushed for a moment before smiling “I’d like that.”

“Then get your stupid shoes off and get in bed. It’s a long night and we all need rest. We’ll need to head to the city and see what all we can salvage once the sun is up.” Kimber replied before going over to her clock and setting the alarm for just one hour before the sun would rise up. “I’ve also got to do some adjustments on the house and tend to the plants…” At this point she was muttering to herself as she absently pulled off her pants and shirt, tossing both to the floor. Crawling into bed, she tossed off her sports bra and began to slip under the blankets.

The last bit of clothing she had on - her panties - was tossed to the floor at this point.

Amit was stunned as Kimber began to undress his eyes drinking up the sight. Taking a moment to compose himself he shrugged off his shirt and pants before climbing into the bed in just his boxers. “So do you get hot at night when you sleep?”

“Yeah, my species gets very hot when we sleep, so I often sleep naked. If I’m cold, I cover up with blankets, but most of the time I toss them off while sleeping.” She explained. “It’s the curse of having lava for blood.”

“Lava for blood ?” He asked eyes widening” that's pretty hardcore we humans just got regular blood.”

“It’s a very complicated biological structure.” Kimber said with a yawn before rolling onto her side. “Sleep well, Amit.” Reaching over, she tapped the wall and the lights in the room dimmed to a comforting soft glow that would encourage sleep.

Sadly, this wouldn’t last long.

The bang would catch everyone’s attention.

Amit jumped out of the bed grabbing the knife from his pants on the floor. “What the hell was that?”

Throwing on her clothes, Kimber grabbed a gun from her desk and headed straight for the door. “Lets find out!” She snapped and rushed down the hallway. They would catch up to Umbral on the way.
