Answering with a Fork (JP)
underground Mutant Community - Wyoming
This inquiry confused Demitri as he set his water down. "You don't have the information with you?" He asked, slowly looking over this "Johnathan". The flicker of emotions and that moment uncertainty was not missed. As a hunter, the Russian man had been trained on reading prey.
He wanted to see if this would help clear things up a bit. A part of him wanted to simply let loose the information, but he was guarded. There were walls up that he didn't want to let down. It was getting more and more difficult to take this man seriously.
"I would think you'd have it with you." He finally added after a moment, finally looking at his two escorts for help. They both shrugged, just as confused.
Johnathon(fin) was racing through his thoughts on how to respond. The man had done what his parents would frequently did, answer a question with a question. He went with his gut, because waiting any longer would look even worse.
Johnathan(fin) sported a genuine exasperated look and directed it at one of the guards. “Can you believe this guy? Wanting me to repeat myself like he didn’t just hear my question.” He looked at the other guard. “You think he doesn’t notice I am not in working attire?” His rhetorical questions sounded irritated; it was all an act.
Johnathan(fin) turned back to Dimitri with his hands raised slightly. “Look sir, you don’t want to just be straightforward and simple with me, then I got better things to do. I don’t have to make your problems, my problems.” His expression turned to one of “whatever” and he started to move to get up, but then stopped as if out of charity; it was really because his knee, from his long legs, bumped the underside of the table.
“So … enlighten me again why I should care, instead of introducing you to a life of permanent confinement?” Johnathan(fin) felt he had done pretty well selling it.
Demitri's eyebrows pinched together as anger boiled his blood. It took every ounce of control not to let his combative instincts take over and assault this obvious liar. "Kyra said you were a very responsible man that took things seriously. The most reliable person she knew...I think those were her words." He said, his voice deep and cold now. "Quite a disappointment."
Before he could stop himself, he swiped up his fork and shot it toward Johnathan(fin)'s left arm, silently expecting a display of power. Most mutants had the natural instinct to defend themselves with their powers, after all. It was a trick he'd learned to use over the years of hunting them.
By the time the two guards realized what he'd done it was too late.
