Tension In The Air (JP)
Johnathan cringed when Cyrus called Khun Darling. His back tingled with tension as he straightened his posture and approached the man. "First of all, what brought you here and how did you find us?" He said, leaning backwards against the desk and maintaining eye contact.
Cynthia shot Johnathan a scolding glance before sitting on top of the desk next to him. "Sorry about him, he's not great with friendly introductions." She said with a gentle tone. "We have a few questions, and I need your consent to dream walk since our usual person isn't here. Would you like to wait for the water?" She asked, trying to keep the kind smile.
Cyrus chuckled and shook his head. He was definitely in the right place, he would need to say thanks to the stranger in the woods next he saw him.
Cyrus looked between the two. For whatever reason he got the sense the woman was in charge, so he decided to respond to her. "Dream walk? I mean, if you were gonna do that I was just asleep like two minutes ago. You could've watched me have a shootout with Eliott Marston."
Cynthia tilted her head slightly to the side; "Eliott Marston? I'm not sure I know that name - regardless, I don't dream walk without consent. It's mostly safe, but there can sometimes be side effects, and there's the stereotype that all dream walkers are murderous psychopaths." She said, rolling her eyes with a bit of an amused grin.
Johnathan kept his eyes locked on the man. For all he knew, the stranger could've been somehow related to the odd letter they had received just a few minutes earlier. Adhering to the silent scolding Cynthia had given him, he stayed silent, but refused to let his guard down. The location of his house was completely off the grid, and nearly completely unknown - but this man sought them out, someone told him where their safe haven was. That made him a threat.
Cyrus rubbed the back of his neck and sighed, "Ya know, I can't say I feel comfortable with a second person fucking with my head in the space of what, an hour? If it makes you feel better I won't resist, but I'm gonna complain the whole time. Sheesh, Pearwin could've warned me y'all were a paranoid bunch. But, I suppose that's kept y'all safe thus far. By the way, Eliott Marsten is the villain in a old western movie."
That was when Khunara finally returned and held a bottled water out to Cyrus. "Here you go, sir." She said in her commonly kind voice. Letting him take it, she stepped over to the side and stood by the wall silently. Her fingers fiddled with the stethoscope around her neck, watching the man and making sure he wasn't showing any signs of physical ailments.
As a doctor, she watched everything, after all.
Cyrus gleefully took the water bottle, sucking it down in seconds. "Whew, THAT is some high quality H2O. Thanks doc."
Johnathan stood up straight - he and Cynthia glanced at eachother for a second before returning their attention back to Cyrus. "Pearwin?" Cynthia started, knowing who he was probably talking about.
"Tell us what you know about him." Johnathan's tone was low, and his voice calm, but it was clear he was demanding. Perrine had been a trusted member of their community for a while now, he was their favorite transporter. Johnathans heart rate sped up slightly at the thought of Cyrus running into Perrine - but he also knew that if there had been trouble, animals would've come running to try and let them know. Cynthia must've been thinking the same thing because Cyrus now had every ounce of her attention.
Cyrus picked up on some tension, this person was apparently closer to them than he originally thought. "I ran into him at a creek about an hour from here. He stopped me from filling my canteen with poisonous water. I couldn't really understand him, but when I told him I was looking for friends with abilities similar to mine, he pointed me toward y'all."
As the others spoke, the medic finally took notice of Ben Taylor's demeanor and frowned a bit. Going over to him, she gave him a small smile. "Since your job is done, sir, perhaps head on down to get some rest. You've obviously been very busy and need to get your energy back. We've got things handled here." She said in a polite tone, tilting her head to the side slightly.
Turning her gaze toward the group. "Maybe have someone send up some more water on your way down, please. No rush." She wasn't going to force the man to do anything. Being only a doctor, she could only really control medical situations.
After dismissing Ben, she walked over to Cynthia and Johnathan. "While you're doing the dream walk, would you like me to keep an eye on him? It's never been known what a Dream Walker's abilities do to others while they're under such an influence." She explained.
