Sophia's fiery glare met Malik's watchful eyes, and Tessa, the mutant with earth powers, felt the tension in the room intensify. She assumed that Sophia might have a wariness toward men, especially older ones with intentions that were anything but clear, based on the young girl’s agitated and unprovoked attitude.

Malik, the telekinetic mutant, was on the receiving end of Sophia's frustration, and he was about to speak up when Tessa gave him a rough elbow to the ribs. The sudden jab pulled him back from the brink of responding with irritation, and he looked at Sophia with a mix of annoyance and confusion. Little did the little girl know he could have made her own knife slit her throat before she had another outburst if he so wished. Fortunately, Malik wasn’t a sadist and shrugged off her disdain with indifference.

Tessa couldn't help but admire Sophia's strength and resilience, even if it came with a fiery temper. The underground mutant community was filled with unique individuals, each carrying their own burdens, and Tessa understood the importance of standing one's ground when needed.

A muffled sound could be heard on the other side of the earthen wall. Tessa shifted her stance and with a flourish of her hands created an opening to reveal Perrine, a woman with an air of being in charge, and another man in tow; the latter being a telepath on call when Lydia was indisposed. Perrine was the first through the opening and made his way over to the newcomers.
