JP - Klaire and Tzeitel fighting
“What do you mean?” Tzeitel asked Klaire, growing more worried.
“Yeah… She was acting really weird with him back there too.” Ami said.
“He loves her…always will.” Cody shrugged.
“But she doesn’t love him that way.” Ami said, disappointed. In movies they’d be happily together by now.
“Ami knows what Colt did…to you.” Klaire said.
"What?! How the hell does she know that?" Tzeitel asked Klaire. She was freaked out enough about Colt kissing her without her little sister knowing about it.
“I don’t know,” Klaire said, deciding to cover for Ami at the moment. “Maybe she overheard…”
Cody nodded and pushed back his hair. “Let's just try to relax and wait.” He said softly.
"I wish there was something we could do." Ami remembered back when Colt lived with them in their cottage in the village. They were so much like a couple.
Cody nodded and pulled Ami into a hug. “I wish I knew what to do, honestly.”
One of the doctors would come out and explain the details of what was being done for Colt. “We’re using a lot of our special medications and ointments that River made us in order to help him, but he’s in for a long recovery. Those wounds are not going to be easily healed, even by another meta. The cuts are easy enough to handle, but the burns…he’ll have a lot of scarring from it.”
Klaire frowned and nodded in understanding. “Thank you, doctor.”
The doctor nodded and looked over them all. “You can visit him if you wish, but try not to wake him up. He’s on a lot of pain killers right now.”
Tzeitel frowned, she could tell that Klaire was being less than honest with her. But that was when the doctor came out and told them about Colt. She felt sick, Colt had to be in so much pain physically and, well, he had gotten himself rejected again. She hugged her arms. “Should I even see him?” She asked Klaire.
Ami’s shoulders slumped.
Klaire’s frown deepened. “Yes and take both Ami and Cody with you. Ami may be able to find out what exactly happened to him. Her power is far more helpful than you think.” She said, letting her words hint at how Ami found out the truth, but not telling her outright.
Cody perked up. “Wanna see Colt and remind him of how awesome he is?” He asked Ami.
Ami nodded.
“Ami’s just a kid, Klaire.” Tzeitel said, her shoulders stiffening. “I don’t want her to get traumatized or get hurt from using her powers too much without understanding them.”
“And making her not use them will only hurt her as well, Tzeitel.” Klaire said sternly. “Have you seen Amber? She’s grown far more control with her power simply because both Riley and River encourage her to practice. Cody doesn’t suffer any aging due to his now thanks to the gift his father handed him upon death. My kids may not show more than the heightened senses, but I encourage them to use them, to let their senses grow stronger. We can’t hold them back forever.”
Tzeitel shook her head. "It's too dangerous for her to practice her powers on people. We don't know what effect it will have on her or the person she uses her powers on… and what kind of information she can absorb… she's a kid, Klaire."
“A smart kid that already saw Colt kiss you by just touching you!” Klaire snapped, frustrated.
Tzeitel swore. "You don't see how that could hurt Ami? There's a lot that happened to me that no kid should ever see."
“She sees a lot of bad things on a daily basis wherever we travel…” Klaire shook her head and made her way outside, too irritated to keep this conversation up. She understood Tzeitel’s wishes to protect Ami, but in a world where they - metas - were hated and hunted constantly, there was no time for shielding children from reality. Even her kids already understood that, but they didn’t let it get them down. A part of her was sure that was thanks to James and everyone else.
Tzeitel swore. She was not even trying to push Klaire away this time, but Klaire had left again. Tzeitel hoped she could get something to drink, hit the gym, or both. Tzeitel thought what Canestone did to her was worse than anything Ami had seen in their travels, and Tzeitel hoped Ami never saw anything so terrible. Especially not while she was still a kid. On some level Tzeitel knew Ami should be practicing using her powers, but letting AMi use them on other people seemed too dangerous. She looked to where she had last seen Cody and Ami and was not happy to notice that they were gone. She headed towards Colt’s room.
