JP - Trying to get the girl help
Bella sniffed around and was following something until she reached the road, where she crouched down and looked around. Staying in the grass, she whined and her ears fell back.
She enjoyed barking at passing cars, which were rare.
A man with glasses and a collar stared at the strange ‘dog’ barking at his car. He frowned and pulled over.
Bella blinked and backed away from the road a bit more as the car pulled over. She barked at it again and sniffed.
“Hello there.” The man greeted. “Can you speak?”
Hearing the word "speak", Bella spoke by barking at him again and scratched behind one of her ears. She wanted desperately to scratched at the bandages on her side but recalled how Clonestone told her not to do so.
“Are you okay?” Bronte asked, noticing the bandages. He touched the collar on his neck, considering using his power for a moment, when he heard a very real scream in the distance.
Bella’s ears perked up for a moment at the scream and then folded back as she tried to hunker down and hide. A sad whine escaped her and she stared in the direction she had come from.
“What’s going on?” Bronte asked, reluctantly pressing the button on his collar. His power came back in a rush.
Poor Bronte would get a plethora of Bella’s memories as the girl’s suffering at Clonestone’s hand runs through her mind. Even more swam through her mind as she felt a panic about how she would help that poor woman. Barking at Bronte, almost in warning, she was thinking ‘Go, go! He’ll hurt you too!’
Bronte clutched his head and switched his collar back on. Five years ago he had escaped The Rig with someone who looked just like Canestone, and what he read in that monster’s mind still kept him up at night. He pulled out his phone and dialed 911.
Bella went over to Bronte and headbutted his leg, wanting him to get back in his car.
Bronte stared at his phone, unable to get a single bar of service. He went over to his car and opened the passenger door and gestured for the dog girl to get in.
Bella blinked and struggled a bit to get in, but eventually climbed into the seat and her tail wagged, looking around at the interior of the vehicle. Every new place she saw was an exciting adventure for the dog girl.
Bronte got into the driver’s seat and began driving, glancing at his phone checking for service. He was beginning to second think calling 911, this was a meta problem.
Bella whined and looked back before looking at Bronte. She wanted to know where they were going, but only knew how to bark and make other dog noises. Digging her little claws into the seat, she panted nervously.
“It’s okay, I’m getting help…” Bronte pulled over when he had service. He called a number he had called five years ago, it was Delilah’s number.
Delilah was busy helping some children with their physical therapy in the underground when the call happened. Getting some others to take over, she grabbed her phone and answered. “Hello?” She asked.
“Hi. Um… There’s this evil meta torturing a girl.” Bronte said.
Delilah was silent for a moment. “Bronte, where are you?”
Bronte gave his coordinates. “He has the girl in some kind of hole in the ground… I didn’t actually see it but I know it’s close.”
“Okay, just stay where you are and stay hidden.” Delilah replied. “If this is who I think it is from the rumors, you don’t want this fucker finding you, Bronte. Is there anyone with you? I keep hearing whining.”
“Stay? I was going to drive the hell out of here!” Bronte said. “There’s a dog girl, she can’t speak. She was with him, like a pet…”
“Hm, okay, drive away.” Delilah said. “Just make sure no one is around to see your license plate or the car. I will kill a bitch if they hurt you, boy!”
Bella barked out a window, still panting.
Bronte put the car back in drive. “Cell service is bad here so I might get cut off. Can you send someone to help this girl? The things he did to her…”
“Already on it, Bronte,” Delilah replied as she sent Mark a text about the situation and the coordinates, telling him to get some serious backup because of who she suspected it was. “So…why do you have a dog girl with you?”
Bella was sniffing at Bronte now, wondering if he had any snacks.
“I found her on the side of the road barking at my car. She couldn’t speak so I, er, read her mind. That’s how I found out about the girl in trouble.” Bronte explained. “My collar is on now.”
“Okay, just stay safe, okay? If you can reach the Underground, bring that girl with you. Do you know her name?” Delilah asked, wanting to keep his mind busy so he wouldn’t freak out too much.
“I think she’s called Bella… but that might not be her name.” Bronte said. “It’s confusing, she has no spoken language and it affects how she thinks… or maybe our spoken language affects how we think.”
Bella barked a few more times out the window, smacking her hands on the door, smiling real big.
“Well, just keep her with you. I’ll have Frisk and the other medics check her out.” Delilah replied.
And that was when Bella finally turned and plopped herself down against Bronte.
“She seems hap- oh shit!” Bronte narrowly missed crashing into a tree.
