Ambush - part 2

"That's a pretty story." Malacost said looking at Hunter. "And a very good question." The time for games was over. He slapped the horse hard across its flank spooking the beast, who kicked out with its hind legs making Hunter jump sideways. Malacost seizes the opportunity to move on the young man. A thin razor blade dropped from his left sleeve into the palm of his hand as he sent a kick into Hunter's midsection.
"I'm the butcher boy."

Hunter rolled backwards and back onto his feet as he drew some throwing blades and prepared to fight. Then he replied, "Ha! So that leaves it at Creed or Bounty Hunter. If you are working for Duke Gett, you are in for a rather nasty surprise. Arbiter Voah has already taken in my confession and launched an investigation incriminating Duke Gett and several others. So you ain't getting paid old fox."

Malacost laughed. "That bitch has her own problems to deal with boy." He said swinging his pickaxe into an arc trying to keep Hunter off balance so he could throw any knives. "Plus she will just betray you in the end." He said taking another swipe at Hunter. "Like Cora did..."

Hunter stayed nimble as he dodged the pick axe and took in Alcuin's harsh words. He was caught off guard by this information as he needed to get some space from the next attack.

Malacost twisted again rotating inside Hunter's reach, bringing his palm up he sliced the razor across the assassins face. Hunter brought his hand to block but the razor sliced across his flesh making him drop his blade.

Hunter brought his head down on the older man pushing him back.

After getting some space he wiped his face and saw blood on his hand. He was caught off guard by the old trickster. So the old man used nasty tricks like this to catch his prey. Hunter then flung another blade at Alcuin to get more space.

The boy was fast and obviously had skills. He felt the throwing blade rush past his ear. The effects of the poison were almost immediate and the man although unaware had already lost some accuracy.

Malacost stopped for a second looking at the young assassin. All he needed now was time. He hefted his pickaxe, and looked at Hunter.
"One gold piece. One gold was all it took to get that red hair bitch to betray you." He said trying to upset Hunter. "She asked me to cut your throat slowly once I caught up with you..." He grinned evil.

Hunter suddenly felt a disturbing feeling in his face. It was one that he had not felt in a long time. His face was going numb and he quickly realized he was poisoned by a poison he also used. As a youth he was exposed to some of the poisons in order to understand about them better. Hunter knew he was in trouble as he yelled out loud, "You Freiling Bastich!" in hopes of Islana hearing him. Then Hunter grabbed a few poisoned blades and hurled them at Alcuin as the numbness was moving down his body.

Malacost saw the throws coming and dodged easily. Hunter's movements because sluggish and less fluid. Green spider poison was fast and effective at slowly paralyzing a victim.
"I think I'm going to have fun cutting you boy.. they didn't say you had to have a tongue when I bring you in..." He said laughing

Hunter could feel his arms and legs turning into jelly as his breathing became erratic. He had no plans to die by the hands of this old psychopath. So he pulled out the closest blade he could reach as he fought to stay moving.

Islana looked up as Kaithak flew overhead. The huntress had gone a little further than she had initially wanted but after a little calculation it shouldn't be too far for Hunter's horse, if they went slow enough. The site was good

So, the redhead turned around and headed back. Kaithak let out a cry but Islana couldn't figure out what the falcon was going on about.

Moving closer to Hunter and the prospector, Islana heard something. Not quite sure what. "You Freiling Batich!" hit her ears hard. It was Hunter's voice.

The young woman got off of River, and crept her way closer to see what was going on.

The words by the prospector hit her ears and she steadied her bow and shot near the prospectors leg.

"Get away from him," Islana said, holding the bow in position.

Malacost jumped away as the arrow hit the ground next to his foot and the feminine voice warning him. This was just perfect. He rolled to his left closer to Hunter who was struggling to stay on his feet. Dropping the pickaxe he pulled a long knife from his belt and circled to come up putting Hunter between him and Islana's bow.
Hunter tried to turn and swing at the bounty hunter but a well placed elbow to the side of the head rocked the assassin and a punch to the arm made him drop his weapon.

"Now drop your weapon before I slice his bowels open while you watch, little peach." He threatened.
