Bugfire and Booze

His eyes obeyed the command the quickest, the torch in question immediately retrieved and being struck without question. His fears of it having gotten soaked were tested for several tense minutes, dodging stray splashes and always trying to see if Voah was still alive.
At last, he struck true and the torch lit!
A look of primal glee over took him, a sense of purpose in a fight he knew how to win.
“Clear out!” He bellowed, charging back towards the enraged creature. Once again it had left its back to him and this time it would truly regret that choice.
He chose not to leap, instead running low to slide through the muck in front of it. The beast had been preparing for another lunge, limbs wide and wound exposed just as he hoped. He swung the torch and smacked the blaze right on the mark, igniting the ichor that still trickled forth.
A magnificent blaze careened across the beast, anywhere its blood had touched now alight.
Limbs twitched in erratic agony and a chittering cacophony filled the cavern as it quickly abandoned it’s revenge to seek its survival, tossing itself into the waters to slink away.

As blue flame ignited and lit up the caverns, Voah cheered inside. The beast dove toward the back of the grotto and slithered away, giving her the chance to join Tarmen. The pack was heavy and weighing her down so she started dragging it through the water with her. Gods she was already exhausted.

Finally, she grabbed the forearm offered by her companion and pulled herself onto the path ledge.

It was time they headed up and out and they did so wordlessly until they reached a point of safety where they no longer felt threatened that the beast would leave its domain to follow them.

“That was… incredibly disgusting… terrifying and… hic... awesome… and nnn… yeah, I think I am DRUNK?” said Voah with some levity, wavering a bit as she walked.

Tarmen looked at Voah with beleaguered amusement, the stuff really was full of booze and strong stuff at that. Hoi’s tits, he was feeling a light buzz from what little he had ingested.
“Yeah, you’re wasted and I just got started. Just what those mold freaks need are their victims gigglin’ and bumpin’ against the walls.”
He hoisted up the pack, feeling a rib pop in protest. Perks of the lifestyle, as always.
With his open shoulder he supported the Arbiter and guided them both along. Hopefully to a cave with less bugs.
