Warnings and Whistles
JP with Alexis, Gonyaul and Hunter:
Gonyaul had caught Amu closer to the group, or perhaps it was the other way around. He arched a brow at Alexis’s request, he was unfamiliar with that phrase and it seemed a peculiar thing to say. His danger radar was not yet going off, in fact he was rather enjoying the sounds of ‘birds’ after not hearing any for a while.
“How do one stay sharp?” He had this picture in his head of his arms turning into swords.
Malacost refrained from rolling his eyes at the strange young man. It was taking a huge amount of self control to tolerate being near him this long and not driving a dull object through his eye sockets into his brain pan. He had to humor conversation all day with Gonyaul. Gagging internally on the question that started it of ‘what your story?’
He was on edge even before Alexis, knowing they were at a strategic disadvantage because of the terrain before even entering the ravine. Malacost despised not being in control and seeing ahead of what was to come next. He also realized those sounds were too conveniently timed to not be concerned about. His calculating eyes were scanning their surroundings, measuring potential scenarios and projecting his future actions should one of them come to fruition.
Alexis sighed and resolved to teach Gonyaul some phrases and military signs when things were less dire.
“Possible Trouble.”
She clarified.
“Be on your guard.”
Gonyaul thanked her for the explanation with a nod of his head. He then followed her lead and dialed up his situational awareness. He didn’t know if there was something in particular he should be paying attention to, so he just took in what he could with his senses in the hopes his brain would flag any anomalies.
Hunter was paying attention to the bird sounds and sighed as they sounded out of sorts by the timing of them. As he looked at the ground he saw foot prints and sighed again as the ambushers did a poor job of cleaning their tracks. So he paused and while on the horse he used his staff to mark the military symbol for trap ahead. Then he readied his bow as he got ready to kill someone.
