Plans for Kaithak
JP with Redsword, Zeeke, Winteroak and Cindy
Wim looked at the two of them and finally spoke, “I will raise him if he has no family.”
He walked forward a bit closer to the altar.
“It would only make sense as I will soon have a wife and a big house,” he said as if this was the only obvious solution.
“Master Wolf, I would ask that you and your colleagues might aid teaching the boy and other children,” he asked as if he had been thinking about schools and things like that. Sadly, for the children of Lowood he had been.
“Islana is becoming a mother figure to the lad. We, then can be care takers. You have knowledge to learn from him and to teach him and I have the means to feed and cloth him,” he said to Wolf.
Wim had spent much of this time brooding about his family. The voice of his father wanting to burst out with stop babying the boy, he is nearly an adult. Envy of the attention that Islana was giving him, and an emptiness deep inside him.
“Do you think he can call forth fire?” Wim asked.
Islana smiled at Wim. "That sounds like a great idea."
It sounded like a great idea, all of it until Wim mentioned all of them being caretakers. Islana's face fell slightly, she wanted to. She just wasn't sure if her past would catch up to her, making that idea not possible.
Islana had noticed Wim seemed unlike himself since the boy arrived. She wondered if the exchange with Omen had something to do with it.
The young woman remembered what Wim had asked, and what it had cost him. She could only imagine how much it might have bothered him to see her with the boy.
Islana had a different experience with her own mother, while she never met the woman there had always been a sense of a connection to her. Islana looked, acted, even sang, like her mother. Her mother had even chosen her name. Maybe, that's why changing herself - killing of Islana to become a new person had been a decision she couldn't seem to come to .
The redhead looked at Wim, "I don't think the boy can do anything like that. I think he would have shown us. It's my understanding the clans people just have magic as their way of life. They don't consider it to be wrong or bad, I don't know if he would know to not show us "
Wim noticed Islana’s body language change.
“He will not trust us without you,” he said.
“Eventually he will trust Elizabeth, then us,” he added
Islana glanced at Boyce and sighed. Alexis, Gonyaul, Boyce, was she ready to add Wim to the list of people that knew?
The young Lord didn't know what her exchange with Omen had been because she and the old witch had been quiet about it.
"I really want to be a part of helping him. I really do. It's just ...it just might not be that easy." Islana responded. "There are circumstances that might get in the way of that."
“We can do this!” He said looking at the three of them. “Who knows we may end up with an orphanage the way our luck goes,” Wim chuckled.
The redhead couldn't help but smile at Wim's enthusiasm. "Yes, I'm sure we can."
It wasn't the time to bring up the reason behind her hesitation to commit completely to this. Maybe, later. There was a slim possiblity things would work out in her favor but Islana knew the reality of the situation wasn't in favor.
It was down to luck really. She had already found friends - a new family and been rescued from being sacrificed by the cult. (Though that was luck, combined with talented friends). She had gone for years without the inquistion finding out about her ability. Years without Lord Vasant finding her.
Remembering the vision Omen had given - Islana just wasn't sure how much longer her luck would last.
"Don't misunderstand me. I will do what it takes to help the boy and we should use his name Kaithak. Wim if Kaithak stays with us he will get all the support he will need I promise that," said Wolf, now pulling out a rope-wrapped pencil and a small book. Wolf started to draw the markings on the altar
Kaithak. Islana didn't mean to not use the boy's name. She wasn't really sure why she hadn't.
"I suppose we can discuss more details on all of that when we find out about Kaithak's clan."
The young woman paused and turned to Wim. "It is a very kind thing to help him."
She didn't want him or his idea to feel discounted. Islana moved away from the two men and started looking around the room to see if she spotted anything else of interest..
The boy steps forward and places the index bone finger on the altar and points at you all and back at the altar, as if asking you to make your own offerings.
