A Moment Of Stillness
Islana had woken up, with the rise of the sun, which was surprising considering how late the young woman had gone to bed.
Even more, not just early but antsy, the huntress wanted to spend time with River getting breakfast for the group and exploring a little more of the area.
Not a touch of a hangover, she had only been a little inebriated and did drink her fair share of water, later on. Islana could only assume those things had helped, as the woman couldn't say she had much knowledge on that kind of effect on herself.
The young hunteress, got ready, got on River and headed out though not too far from camp. River seemed happy that they were going as well.
Much of last night had spent in the company of Boyce. He had come over, to sit by her, while she and Wim had been talking. Islana had noticed the way Boyce always seemed to be on the lookout. A habit of Islana's that had been all but missing for a majority of the evening. Yeah, she wasn't going to drink like that again.
Boyce, now there was another topic, The man was fascinating. Islana would bet he had a million stories about his adventures. The ones he had bothered to share, in the time she had known him, probably didn't even crack the surface. He had become a good friend quicker than Islana could have anticipated. Whether that was because the young woman was trusting people more or because of the kind of man Boyce was, she didn't know. Maybe, it was a combination of both. Maybe, the why didn't matter so much why as the fact that it had.
Taking aim, shoot - hit of her arrow. And again, several times in quick succession until she had killed enough small game for breakfast.
Sounds of birds chirping in the trees, could be heard. Looking up, green eyes caught sight of a little brown bird, with a black head. How much the redhead wanted to call the bird to her. Just to hold it, for a brief instant. No, it wasn't safe, too many ways to get caught.
Sorry but I can't. Go. Directing her thoughts to the bird then nodded at her and flew away.
Islana and River remained completely still, as the young woman closed her eyes, letting the sounds of the birds fill her ears and the soft breeze of morning touch her skin. It took but a moment, but it rejuvenated her down to her soul.
Eyes opened, her hand petted the side of River's neck. Let's go thought to the palameno, barely a touch of her boots and then the two headed back towards camp.
