Great Library of Orb

The Great Library of Orb, is the largest and most significant library of Helias. This imposing building is only rivalled by that of the Imperial Palace in the skyline of Orb. The Library also acts a universal research institution. It is believed that it is the oldest continuously occupied building in the known world with more that 500 years of history.

It's founders aggressively procured texts, books, codices and scrolls in a search for understanding the physical world, something that lasts to this day. It is unknown precisely how many such scrolls and books are housed at the Library at any given time but it is the largest repository in the world making Orb regarded as the capital of knowledge and learning.

The Library is home to virtually all fields of study and also functions as a gathering place for philosophers, historians and mathematicians. A shrine to Orestes can be found at its entrance. The Great Library of Orb is not affiliated with any philosophical school and, consequently, scholars who studied there have considerable academic freedom.

Blackwolf - With the first ships arriving in the Spring, two letters are sent to your attention from the Great Library of Orb. One is to be given to the Duke. It is a bill of transfer in the value of 500gp. It asks the Duke to make amounts available to you throughout the next year to finance your upcoming expeditions and studies. In return for this arrangement, you are to share your findings with the City of Ostiarium before sending your reports to Orb.
The second letter is a list of suggested assignments for the coming year that the Library wants to find out more about. Your missions for the coming year are:
- Explore the ruins and ancient civilizations of Fang
- Learn more about the culture of the Plains Peoples
- Survey the Desert of Skulls
