Voah would’ve preferred a public execution after holding the cultist in prison and stopping the sacrifice, but it turned out the Keep was compromised and infiltrated by members of the creed. It had to be done then and there.
With his dying breaths, Emmen Blank begged for mercy that Voah could not oblige.
Thankfully he divulged enough information for them to act on.
Hunter took the time to document the information they got from Emmen Blank. He included the basic location where the Pig Face man would sacrifice his victim, that Voah was on a hit list during the new year, the Keep had cult spies in it and Emmen Blank was the killer on the Hogue that framed Blackwolf. Apparently he was addicted to a drug called Felfar. Hunter proceeded to make a total of three copies of this information and gave Voah and Nicolaus a copy as a back up. Then he spoke up, "Looks like this got more complicated based on his confession. Since they are working in secrecy, I doubt they have more than fifty members at best or they would have been more bold about their tactics since they are Zealots." Hunter looked at Voah and almost looked sad as he said, "I am sorry to say this but how you see the cultists is how some see the Arbiters, so be careful with that information. However, I am here to aid you. In order to complete this mission we must clear our mind of doubts and distractions. Your task as the Arbiter, is to kill that pig face man. I will deal with the small fry and rescue the victim, unless you know of any trustworthy fighters?"
She could hardly think of anyone that she could trust, fighter or no. After all, it turned out there was more than meets the eye to everyone she had met. Hunter was a trained killer with some kind of code. Cagliostro had helped torture people. After all, this was Arcadia. She was getting to the point where she was questioning if Blackwolf might have indeed been a murderer.
"Our companions from Sentinel Island are the only ones I would ask to join me."
Hunter nodded at Voah as he replied, "Understandable. However will they available or interested in this crusade? I can see Alexis helping, the doc here is not best for the front lines, Blackwolf is still in jail, who knows where Tarmin is and Till is dead. That does not bode well for the mission. Perhaps we can use bait to get Sir Zane to support us by accident. Perhaps we send a message that a savage tribe is attacking the Keep from the same location?"
Voah pondered the idea. Sir Zane had put her on the mission, but she was wary about who would be sent to assist. They needed all the help they could get. “I think we can trust Sir Zane but there is no telling whether they would be able to find the location in time. You and I will certainly have our own challenges finding it. We prepare for travel immediately, we need only bring light camping gear. If we rest, we do it for short periods and stagger it. We have only until the moon is high. Nicholaus, will you deliver a letter with the information we learned this evening?”
After Voah gave Nicolas the letter, Hunter reminded her that they had little time to spare so they put on their disguises and headed out to the location Blank described. Since Hunter was familiar with a lot of the hunting grounds, he was able identify a few of the references from Blank’s testimony. So once the collected whatever supplies they could from Nicolas, they headed out into the darkness on their way to the forest.
