Hunter replied, “Oh………wow I thought you were angry due loosing someone important. So you are just angry all the time? I am hesitant to share me name with someone who might be cursing it.”
The men looked around at one another. Who hid their name when joining a stranger's fire? "In that case, find yourself another fire to warm you bones. We don't share our warmth with strangers. Begone."
Hunter chuckled as he shook his head as he chuckled. Then he began to speak with a calm and and unnerving tone in his voice, "You know during my life I got to meet a great many types of people. Nobles, Clergy, Merchants, Soldiers, Commoners and even some monsters. The funny thing is......." Hunter began to limp around a bit as he talked to the four men. Then he continued his speech, "Be they rich or poor, many believed they they were above the laws and could do whatever they wanted. Some even decided to take the lives of innocent and not so innocent people who were unlucky enough to get in their way. Some of these fanatics even believed they were high quality killers who had no match."
Hunter was slowly inching toward the man he was tailing after memorizing their faces. Then he chuckled as he said, "You brave men have the look of someone believing they are untouchable. I applaud your confidence.......but in the end.........." Hunter then quickly used his staff to smash the feet of the man he tailed and crushed them as if they were eggs in a nest without so much as a flinch. Then swept the staff up to pop the man in the jaw and knock him out before turning to disable the other three men, "Manners maketh the man."
Seeing the commotion around one of the fires with a stranger attacking 4 of their own and just before the Arbiter entered the scene, most people around the others fires got up and grabbed whatever tools and weapons they had close by. Pitchforks, hatchets, clubs, hoes and the like. A couple of stones flew in Hunter's direction one of them hitting him in the back of the head, sending him to his knees.
Some men rushed to help their comrades but stopped in their tracks once Voah made her entrance wondering what the Arbiter was doing here this late at night. Mothers rushed their children back into their huts fearful of what was to come.
One of the men tried to flee into the night but was suddenly pushed back into the fray.
"Enough!" came a voice from the darkness and from its depths approached the Arbiter, her sword drawn, stretching down and outward. With her free hand she dropped her hood. Strands of her golden hair fluttered back from the waves of heat and her wide eyes reflected the blaze as firelight painted across her form in hues of oranges and reds like a weapon that had just emerged from Vastad's Forge.
The Inquisition was here...
