After the assailant is handed over to the city guards with strict instructions that the man is of interest to Sir Zane, Alexis escorts Wim into the room where the Knight, the Friar and Islana are talking about the Creed of Slivikhi. Alexis quickly retells how they were attacked and how Wim's workers were murdered.
The Knight looks at Wim. The boy seemed to have kept his nose clean in the last few months starting a business and working on renewing his brewery as well has appearing to become a sort of protégé for Eren Sadir.
"Seems trouble will always find you, hey, young master Wim?" The Knight told him. "Now, I know why the Creed is after these others but you?" He looked at the man straight in the eyes. "Want to tell us why you were galavanting in the woods, talk to the tress in a glade full of dead bodies? And this time the truth young man..." He almost growled.
Wim bowed to him but did not smile. He looked at the knight and said, “I do not know anything about this Creed group.”
He continued answering the rest of the question, “As I told your man Henrich, I was in the woods because of a dream I had. Something was calling to me and I thought showing some initiative would help my cause with Master Sadir and his logging operations. I even showed Henrich my recollection of the dream from my diary.
I was riding through the woods heading for one of the logging camps and stumbled across Henrich, Islana, and Jiyn where the bodies were found. They were acting a bit odd. They did not even burn the bodies.
Recently, I went back to the woods hunting with a new bow. I met Gonyaul and shared a meal with him, there was a tree with the rune like Henrich pointed out. I camped the night and got a bit drunk, I wanted to see if there would be another dream. There was no dream to be had. In the morning, I returned to town still hung over. Today, I was moving sacks of wheat for the spring brewing and you heard the events that transpired,” Wim said in a very factual tone.
“I also did my best to take my assailant alive so he may be questioned and hung properly,” Wim added.
There was a sense of relief when Alexis came back. Islana was even glad to see that Wim didn't seem bad off.
That feeling though quickly turned to annoyance as Wim tried to make out like Hendrik, Jiyn and herself had been the suspicious ones in the woods. She figured the man was just trying to get the focus off of himself. The young woman also knew that it wasn't likely to work because Jiyn and her had been sent ,with Hendrik, to check out the site. Still, she found Wim's comment to be annoying, ridiculous and annoying. Islana though knew enough to not interrupt the conversation between Sir Zane and Wim. The huntress let her face show nothing while inside was a slight prayer that Wim didn't spill anything about the other events that occurred in the woods.
Gonyaul was focused on his breathing, in and out rhythmically to the sounds of the interior of the bathhouse. He was planning on waiting for his Ikeburer to dry. Yet his patience was cut short when a respectful attendant interrupted him. He was directed to a guard who was waiting to escort him back for the time being. He was instructed that when his clothes were ready they would get them back to him.
Gonyaul was led by the guard back to Sir Zane’s office room. Upon entering he looked completely different then when he left. He was now the cleanest and most refreshed person in the room, smelling noticeably like lavender and honey. It had been a whirlwind of a day, beat up and almost assassinated one second and receiving spa like treatment the next. He was dressed in loaner linens from the bathhouse.
He smiled upon seeing everyone in the room safe and sound. He also remained silent and off to the side, content with keeping the attention off of himself while listening and observing.
Sir Zane looked at Wim. A mixture of thinking himself to clever and the need to keep his cards to his chest despite the situation did not endear Wim to most people looking at some reactions around the room.
"A dream that made you go into the woods like some was calling you? Did you not find it peculiar that it lead you to dead bodies?"
He sighed.
"If anyone else in this room told you that story would you believe it? Do you know that there is currently a man in our cells that was found in the forests babbling about 'talking trees'? One last push to see if the young man would came clean.
