Stoneshade Keep Investigation
JP with Islana, Alexis, Gonyaul and Winteroak:
IC: You are taken to Sir Zane who is in his office in the ground floor of the Keep, just off the main courtyard. The room is small, with a desk and few chairs. Maps adorn the walls as do a few weapons.
The familiar figure of Friar Jassin greets you sitting across from the Knight. A large leather bound book opened on top of the desk, Islana recognises as the tome the Friar found the rune on.
Islana was glad to see the Friar was safe in all of this. Her green eyes quickly went to the leather bound book. She had that book etched into her mind; the same book that had held the information on the rune.
Gonyaul was the last to enter and quickly became the most out of place thing in the room. He was still focused on breathing and processing everything that just happened.
He had replayed the fight scene in his mind as they walked here. He deduced where he made some decision making errors and how he could have handled that situation better to learn from it. In addition, he was rather frazzled by how aggressively rude the guards had been.
Upon entering he was astonished by the decor and the commanding presence two very different types of men had in the room. He remained silent and still.
Sir Zane stood up. He looked at the the young huntress. "You must be Islana. I hear you're the young lady that has unravel some of what is going on." He looked at her impressed. "Well done. Please have a seat." He looked at Gonyaul. "You can stand." He told the young man tracking mud everyone, with a chuckle.
Alexis quickly informed Sir Zane of the attacks in the Shrine and Lowood and about the injured Jiyn. He nodded at her summary.
"Get Wim. He was last seen at his brewery." He ordered Alexis.
Gonyaul watched Alexis follow orders and depart. He waved subtlety goodbye; however, he didn’t think she saw it since his hand didn’t get much higher than his waist. Now one of his two reliabilities was gone. He hoped she would be alright on route to and from, and at, the brewery. And that soon, she and Wim would be in the same room as the rest of them.
When he was addressed by Sir Zane, Gonyaul blinked and remained standing.
Islana gave a nod with a thank you for the compliment that Sir Zane gave her. She sat and watched Alexis leave. She, of course, hoped Alexis would be safe but she also hoped Wim was alright. It wasn't that she had suddenly developed a liking for the brewer but Islana was convinced now he wasn't behind what was going on. And despite her other feelings for him, the red head didn't have it in her to want him to suffer.
Sir Zane looked at Islana and Gonyaul and asked both if any could describe their assailants.
Islana explained she didn't get a good look at the man but told Sir Zane what she could. A hooded man, in dark clothing. Possibly a logger or hunter based on what he wore. The huntress gave any other details she could think of but just didn't have much to offer.
Gonyaul wished he didn’t have to speak at all right now, but speak he did. More like pantomimed. He raise one hand above his head.
“Tall big”.
He covered his face. And then pulled his hand away from face.
“Older me”
He pointed to just under his left eye. “Small mark.”
Then he lifted his right arm. “Right handed. Pull arm and hurt.” He started unwrapping the thick linen wrappings there just a little and pulled back the long sleeve. He showed a nasty looking bruise. “Teeth match shape.”
He wasn’t sure if the guards searched the scene and picked up the dropped knife. “Knife in mud?”.
Gonyaul noticed some of the mud that hadn’t dried was dripping off his person as he gestured, landing in small globs on the floor. In addition, the dried mud was cracking. When he saw this his eyes also trailed to the footprints he had trailing behind him from the entrance. He was apologetic, but really had no recourse but to just stay as still as possible.
Sir Zane nodded making notes of the description. Nothing much to go by.
"Would you recognise him if you saw him again?" He asked the strange young man.
Gonyaul nodded, he was pretty sure he could. The man’s face had been close and he also thought he would be able to recognize the voice, having heard the man talk too.
He carefully rewrapped his arm. Even though he was a mess he tried his best to get it just right, with three fingers distance between each loop from wrist to elbow after three times around in place.
"Good lad." Sir Zane told him. "You are safe for now. We just need to wait for Alexis to come back with Wim." He looked at both. "You could use a bath and some new clothes." He told Gonyaul. The Knight called a guard to show the man to the bath soldier's bath house inside the Keep. Turning his gaze to Islana he asked "Would you like something to eat or drink?"
Islana didn't have much of an appetite, at the moment. She was however more than a little parched. "A drink, thank you."
It wasn’t obvious on his face, any subtle expression would be obscured by the mud and blood; however, his eyes were unmistakable. He was not confident in the man’s promise that he would be safe.
When the guard arrived, Gonyaul was led out of the room. He gave Islana a small farewell bow and exited. His situational awareness was on high alert.
