“Children of the Void…” Voah said aloud to herself. She liked that. Someone like that could be most useful here in Arcadia. If only she had that power herself. How was this the first she had ever heard of them?
The Arbiter swung her legs over the side of the bed. Her bare feet met the bristly boar skin rug, the one that she had commissioned from Hunter's kill. She wondered how he was doing for she had no news of any of the survivors of Sentinel Island.
She walked over to her writing desk where she noticed Till's necklace tucked beside an inkwell, it’s leather wound up tightly around the teak figurine. She took it and unraveled it then put it round over her head carefully tucking her braid through it.
The acolytes had certainly taken great care to recover all of her belongings from the trip. What a trip indeed. She really had no idea what to expect on Sentinel with the rumors but from here on, she would heed every one of them, as ridiculous as they sounded, and take into consideration how best to prepare.
Poor Till was undoubtedly dead. Gone now was one of her lucky stars. Perhaps his time had come and the Pillars had finished with their need of him. A sacrifice to warn her and the others, to protect the Arbiter? She hoped it would not end that way for Wim Riese.
Today was a much better day. The concoction that Nicolaus had left for her was very affective. Her mind was much clearer and alert today. She was ready to venture outside and around the rectory. It would be good to get some air and inquire with the Friar and others as to what she missed and what they knew of her affliction.
She splashed her face in a basin of cold water and put on a light and loose flowing garment belted closed by a simple blue sash tied about her waist. She slide the door open and walked out onto the deck overlooking the gardens and she stood breathing in the clean air of winter before letting it out again and sauntering aimlessly around the rectory grounds.
