JP between Winteroak, Omni, Alexis, Jaxx, Lucian and Bandorchu
The creature grinned at the Arbiter, keeping an eye on the others as some started to retreat into the water. Seeing some of his prey flee sent him into a frenzy and he launched himself at Voah with his blade going for her throat in a wide arc.
As Alexis finally fought herself to Hunter’s other side she took the man’s free arm and slung it over her shoulder mirroring Nicolaus in an effort to help carry him.
Her body screamed at her but they were so close.
“Come on, come on come on…” She whispered, mostly to herself.
The sailors on the boat could not believe their eyes, as a one legged man faced down a battered Arbiter that seem to turn himself into a dust devil at will. If not by the presence of Blackwolf on the boat they would have turned and run. One of the younger sailors held a hand to pull Hunter up into the boat as they pull closer to them, but an arrow took him on the neck as he fell face down into the water turning it red.
Looking back at the shore line they could see a group of natives firing their arrows at them.
“Cowards!” Alexis snarled.
Groaning she took her shield of her back holding it out at the scholar.
“Blackwolf! Take it!”
In defiance, the Arbiter parried the attacks of the creature. The Gods bless her sword to this day, the artifact she had earned over many years of hard training from her mentor, through the jeers and bullying from peers, she left them behind through friendless years and the dismissal from those less pious. It was but one of the miracles that kept her on her path and she was sure that it would work now. It had to. Just one clear strike was all she needed.
The creature continue its assault on the Arbiter. It was faster than a normal man, and Voah struggled to parry his strikes bone weary as she was. He fought like a demon possessed. Primal strength and brute force against her skill and elegance. He kept driving her towards the water edge battering at her sword with his crude blade. Sparks flew as they continued to duel. He brought his lantern up and swung it at her wounded face.
Nicolaus hurriedly passed Hunter passed the sailor slumped over the boats edge. On shore he could see Voah fighting on while natives had appeared. "Tarmen you're next."
“No” the Arbiter growled at the redcap as she took the brunt of the lantern with her arm, guarding her already damaged face. She pushed it away and with her sword she took the chance to slash at it.
The creature turned into a dust devil as the Arbiter's blade slash at him but instead of passing through, it cut it deeply. It howled in pain as it jumped back turning back into a man once more. It looked down a the black blood dripping down his gut angry. Angry and surprised as if it had never been cut before while in is dust devil form.
The boat was right there. He could easily drag himself in and be done with it, regale the Hare about how badass the Arbiter was and their desperate struggle, while also cursing Zane’s name.
The archers however, provided yet another little problem. No good being in the boat if you could be picked off like fish.
“Nope, its yours. Make a statue of me or somethin’.”
Facing the shore and the gathered archers, he brought his blade out and took off, pushing through every ache and wound to go find a new trophy or give the natives a new story.
“Darn it.” cursed Alexis pushing Hunter’s body over the edge of the boat and hoping that Blackwolf could provide the crew some protection with her shield. “Get in and get down Nicolaus.” With that she grabbed her own dagger in one hand and the throwing knife in the other and followed after Tarmen...
