If not for the inferno Tarmen would have been stunned witnessing Alexis. Given there was one, he instead worked on getting out in a bewildered silence. Once outside, he wasted no time in voicing his thoughts as they moved back towards the harbor.
"That from your god-friend?"
Alexis grimaces but nods. “Yeah," she confirmed curtly.
“Should we seek out Zane or just drop him off by the closest pack of guards?”
Tarmen stiffly nodded his understanding.
"I was thinkin' of askin' a few questions ourselves. Not sure how privy we will be once he is in the Duke's hands."
“Gotcha. Where to?”
They unfortunately are on limited time for this, too, as they are no doubt expected to be somewhere around in the chaos, so completely vanishing is not an option. Tempting as it is.
There was not many places to go, but Tarmen still knew a few nooks and crannies nearby. Finding one, it only took a few moments to coax the man awake again, though this time bound by his hands and feet. Tarmen pulled the man’s hood off to look him in the eye.
“Now that we are all acquainted, where are you and your friends off to?”
“Veisl mek, nahi!” spat the robed man, quite literally, in an angry tone. The man was younger than the other brothers they had come across. His dark features were full of malice, yet behind his eyes he retained the naivety of youth. He was trying hard to mask his fear with courage of his beliefs.
Having to remember the language, Tarmen chuckled at the implied message before deftly slicing his little finger off.
“Qa qa! Ziarae, kuj’ra faaaw! Aaaah! Marek!” Yelled the young Ozainae as Tarmen took his finger.
Tarmen spoke again, his butchered Ozainae more of an insult than what the boy had conjured, playfully waving the lost member to its owner.
"Lemu? Ai'a dro sadiqi?"
Alexis shifts slightly, out of sight of the young men, clearly not happy with that rather speedy escalation.
Given what this guy and his brotherhood were up to, and that there was a non-zero chance that this was not even the worst interrogation method he was going to be subjected to, she bit her tongue for now and mouthed a “cool it” to her friend.
“An… an an… qa mer’at!” the young man said, trying to be brave.
The boys resolve led Tarmen to look at Alexis. He could agree this was a bit much, but they didn't have the luxury of time. Either more chaos would ensue or the Duke would wonder where they had gone.
Turning back to the boy, he tapped his blade on the floor while looking him over, both as an intimidation and to think over what was enough to blame on a scuffle and what would be obvious to the Duke.
With how scattered he looked, Tarmen settled on bouncing his head off the wall, getting closer to his face so he could stare into the boys eyes.
"Mer'at!"
