Ambushed ambush
JP with Winteroak and Bandorchu
Malacost walked briskly towards the Arbiter's hideout, moving as fast as he could, trying to cool the burning rage growing inside is pounding chest. His mind was clouded with what he had just witnessed. He needed to speak to Voah. Inform her of the abomination that the woman she knew had become. His feet carried him automatically towards his destination paying little attention to his surroundings.
When he got closer, he stopped. He could see a bright light come from ahead. And smell smoke. He peered around the corner of a building and saw his destination on fire. Granted a small fire but one that seemed to be spreading. Coming back to his senses and concentrating in the scene unfolding he saw peiple move in the shadows. He hesitated and took a step back, turning around back to where he came.
That movement likely saved his life. As he turned a piercing pain shot up his left arm and he looked down to see a black feathered arrow jutting from his bicep. If he hadn't turned it would have taken in square on his back.
He pulled his sword out and moved blindly looking for his attackers and for cover.
—-
Alexis had followed ‘her’ group at a short distance, carefully drawing her sword from out beneath her robes and hid it in her sleeve instead.
If this was going south she most likely wouldn’t have time to rummage around in her clothes.
She had also taken note where the other groups were headed.
If these guys were stalking someone, then chances where the others had picked some unlucky victims as well.
But clearly, she would have to see that she made it through this one first.
In front of her, one of the Black Robes drew his bow and fired at the unsuspecting man, who with a stroke of luck happened to turn just at that moment, therefore exchanging a likely fatal hit with a wound to his arm. At least he wasn’t defenseless, drawing a sword right away, though he clearly needed to orient himself, while some of his attackers began closing in on him.
Two archers remained, already in the process of aiming.
One bow clattered to the ground as the archer looked down on the long straight blade protruding from his stomach, shortly after being propelled forward by a forceful kick.
The second archer whirled around to meet the cold gaze of mismatched eyes.
“Surprise.”
Alexis said sarcastically and rammed her elbow into his face.
