The Sea Of Her People

Among the haziness of her mind, Islana thought for a brief moment her eyes had caught sight of Alexis in the crowd. It was difficult to tell though if it was real, a memory or wishful thinking.

By the time the onslaught of two thousand years gave her mind a slight reprieve a sea of people had streamed into the square and, try as she might, Islana couldn't make out individuals among the many.

Her emerald eyes stayed on the crowd as it grew and grew. Watching people kneel or raise their weapons in the air.

The reality sinking in, that it was for her. Just her. It brought on memories of the announcement of the other Prophetesses when they had taken up this mantle. The shouts of loyalty were met with a combination of amazement, familiarity and even a connection with the people in the square.

Without even looking, the young woman knew Tamazzalt was watching her. Islana felt tired, weak, and overwhelmed but also felt joy at all of this and a bit of pride. Not in the boasting sort of way but it had taken so much to get to this point, it was pride from something well earned.

Her eyes remained on the crowd. Her life, heart and soul was forever now with the Ozanine.
