Walkabout

Gonyaul started his walkabout about Arak’s impressive shop. He removed his head wrap and let it hang from his shoulders like a python, in order to experience the smells unencumbered by the fabric across his face. His olfactory senses were immediately invigorated by a combination of scents, some familiar mixed with several foreign. It created a sensational atmosphere for his sense of smell to help remember what his eyes were taking in.

He wanted to touch things; however, knew that it may be considered rude or inappropriate if there was no intent to purchase. He had to settle for imagining the strokes of his gaze were like fingers, drawing guessing conclusions on the textures and materials that were unknown to him.

He took his time going from object to object, as would a curious child. He even tried whispering out loud the labels written in Ozaniae. His pronunciations were considerably off target and his Vauxian accent further obscured any accuracy. It didn’t help that I’d he didn’t know a symbol, he would make it up. The sounds he was making made him appear like a person with a mental handicap with impaired speech and probably would have any other shoppers, if there were any present, giving him a wide berth.

Having tuned out Voah and Arak, in order to singularly focus more intently on what he was exploring around the interior of the shop, Gonyaul’s innovative mind was on overload. His imagination was beyond the limits of reality and the smile on his face was a telling sign that he was enjoying himself. Perhaps it was an enviable trait, that he could derive such pleasure from such simplicity.
