Darn good questions

Ah, yes. Exactly the kind of questions Alexis found increasingly hard to answer, even for herself.

Why WAS all of this happening just now? The seer’s death and an ancient brotherhood killing her potential successors? Apparently in need for the Ichor of Solitude to break that ancient circle completely? Tar, finding the hammer head that he had been searching for years prior and that had been lost for ages before? Even herself, returning to Fang in search of her friends just in time to be dragged into that crazy quest herself?
She didn’t like to think about it, but even though Fate might or might not be bound and buried somewhere below this very desert, it certainly felt like She was pulling some mayor strings.

Hardly something to discuss with a random stranger however. So she went for a very abridged version of the truth, but the truth nonetheless.

“Originally I was merely searching for friends that have gone missing in the Fang. As you might be able to tell by me ending up in the middle of the desert, that… escalated quickly.”

Since he insisted on sharing his food, she did the same with what she had already ordered, pushing the plate into the middle of the table. It just wasn’t her style to let herself be kept by someone without reciprocating, let alone by someone she barely knew.

“As for where I am headed - I honestly don’t know.”
She continued truthfully.

“Things just seem to keep happening and turn over any semblance of a plan.”
