Fighting Demons (Part Four)

The grin that appeared on the man's face could be felt by Islana. He clearly wanted to be the one to kill her himself.

The witch stopped and glared at him. Stram was evil but the bounty hunter was worse. A flash of a memory, the sadistic way he had attacked Hunter - and her.

Alcuin just continued to watch her. What was he waiting for?

"Well, are you going to just stand there?" The huntress egged him on. "Come and get me."

"There's no bird to protect you now, is there? No magik." Alcuin taunted her, as he walked closer.

"Well, I already killed one of you without it." Would he just get on with it, already? The redhead thought.

The man stood about five feet away. "I can't wait to watch every bit of blood flow from your body. Then I'll torture your young friend, make her feel the burning flames of a thousand fiery swords poking away every ounce of skin."

Anger flashed behind emerald eyes and then was gone. He was trying to rile her up. She wasn't going to make that mistake again. Enough of this. Islana moved forward within striking distance, put her sword up and with one movement of the man's weapon they began their fight.

The smell of death and blood lingered in the air. The world felt cold and the hard tree limb scratched at the girl's leg. The sound of metal clashing brought Madaya's head up to look out from her place in the tree.

Her brown eyes easily spotted the two even though they had moved away. The girl prayed for a quick ending and to have Islana remain safe.
