Malacost watched the young strange man leave, keeping a close eye on Voah. What were does hand gestures they exchanged? And why was an Arbiter of the Inquisition apparently so concern by the erratic behaviour of the man? There was something more here that met the eye and at some point he decided he would get to the bottom of it. Her actions with the man relating to their endeavours didn't match the behaviour he would have expected of someone in her position. Maybe the boy was addled? Thought for another day.
Malacost nodded at her order, and with a set jaw followed her lead.
Slightly veering off from her initial plan, Voah turned toward the main encampment first. For a while they skulked in the shadows outside of torchlight, but it was too far away to really hear or make out many details.
The cover of darkness would help Voah and Alcuin to move closely and undeterred throughout the camps like they belonged there or were simply traveling over to the next one down. This way they wouldn't be recognized so easily as outsiders.
Moving along from one camp to the next, they spied mostly men, but also few woman. Some of them actively armed with weapons at the hip and if not, swords, spears, and axes could be seen within an arm's reach. Voah inwardly noted that there were no children. She could officially confirm this to be a war party.
If Voah knew a little more about the Ozainae culture, she would have realized that the banners posted at each camp marked each Sept. The concept was understood all the same. To Voah it seemed like a way to display the designate different tribes or factions. Even at this juncture of the evening, the camps were buzzing with activity. Some of the soldiers were cooking and eating near fires, some checking stock of rations and other inventory, others tending to horses and camels, many of them chattering away. Which made it much easier to get around without being bothered.
As the two of them made their way all the way back around the war party, the disappeared into the darkness again to finally spy on the dark robes. She had avoided them until now, just in case old "white-eyes" was around to sniff them out. At least now they had an idea of what else was going on and possibly where they could find a place to disappear.
