So... the Ozainae were preparing for war and the black banners marked the involvement of the dark robes. Voah wondered how reluctant the Septs were to include them in a war party. If the people of Gra'akast had told her anything, it was that they were tolerated begrudgingly. It wasn't hard to deduce against whom the Ozainae would be raising an army. This new discovery certainly explained the purpose of the map she had found.
The trio had come this far and found more than anticipated, but they would be remiss to leave the contents of the barrels unchecked and do some digging. As darkness took the desert, Voah advised moving in among the ranks to do some scouting, starting near the encampment of the dark robes.
With each step in pursuit of the wagon Gonyaul had to override his commonsense and will himself to continue. He could feel the worrisome anticipation rising like a swelling tide as they ventured outside the city and onward even further. Not only were they dangerously out of place, they were displaced into an environment that was as precarious as their predicament. This was all going from bad to worse, and he felt like a dog on a chain being dragged against his wishes.
Earlier on, he voiced his opinion regarding the foolhardiness of their actions and that they were carelessly taking on the liability of risk without any sound plan of mitigation. Voah was patient with his disapproval. Malacost was not. All it took was one rebuke from the older man to silence the young vaux from continuing to advocate for himself. He continued silently; however, anytime Voah made eye contact with him he was non-verbally pleading that they should turn around.
He was proven right when they finally arrived at the wagon’s destination. There was enough people for an army. Now the three of them were sorely outnumbered and a days travel from security. Gonyaul was overwhelmed and wanted nothing more than to turn and go back as quickly as possible. Yet despite the insane situation, the other two were considering actually going down into the camp itself.
It felt like a malevolent monstrous beast was before them, preparing itself for the suffering it would unleash. In its waiting, it had a threatening yawn, exposing all its teeth and foul stench, regarding its unkind intent. And yet, Voah wanted to basically go down and place themselves inside this gaping maw of danger.
