Together, Voah and the man claiming to be Alcuin paced the city's alleyways heading toward the domain of the dark robes where they would begin their inquest.
Although Alcuin had enough success in the open and Voah's disguise was more convincing than her normal appearance, they still avoided the main roads where they could. There was no need to be stymied by some town guard on top of being recognized by one of their new enemies.
Voah stopped to prepare in the same half-ruined structure where she hid from the dark robes after the rat incident.
"Their building is just down the block and around the corner. I spied at least fifteen in their numbers. For now, let us circle the perimeter first from opposite sides and regroup here."
During her briefing, Voah gave a drop of Holy Oil onto her dagger and offered some to Alcuin's blade. She said a prayer aloud to Kupen for protection and to Vastad to guide their blades if they were to fight. And may Zin take them.
Internally she wondered if the Pillars would here her prayers and spoke a lonely prayer to herself. ~Please, don't let this be the end.~
Free from the confines of the hovel they were hiding in by the docks, Malacost saw the Arbiter change as they made their way across the back alleys of Gra'akast. As they move he saw her falling into her role. Confident, deadly, focused. A force to be reckoned with. He looked at her not without a little hint of jealously. He has had our hopes of becoming an Arbiter himself once long ago, but his nature simply did not allow him that dream.
He bowed his head in true piety, taking the oil upon his blade, and prayed along with her. He felt invigorated by it all. After so long among heathens, it felt truly good to be among a sister.
He followed her lead. He had no hesitation to trust her.
The last time Voah had come here, she waltzed right through the front door at an extremely fortunate and opportune time. She wasn't expecting that kind of luck again, but they wouldn't be going in just yet. This time, she wanted to see what things looked like on the back side assigning Alcuin the task of spying as he passed the front.
If all went well, they would pass each other on the opposite curve of the block and make a wide arc back to where they had started.
She had to admit to herself that Alcuin's presence had revived a zeal in her that she hadn't felt since she was in the Purger's camp. She felt less... alone? And her purpose felt right.
