The Return
Following The Wandering belief in the principles of rebirth, the Immortal Seer, is believed by the Ozainae to be able to choose the body into which she is reincarnated. That person, is selected from whatever number of Penitents to have undergone the Pilgrimage of Bones. Whoever is chose will then become the next Sister Locust.
According to Ozainae scholars it is the responsibility of the High Council Water-Bearers and Air-Weavers of The Wandering tradition to test out the penintents, following the death of the predecessor. This to avoid fake claims that have happened in the past.
The process needs to start before the next New Moon after the cremation of the last Seer and be as quick as possible to ensure a smooth transition of power. The Council is also responsible to decide upon the nature of the Final Trial the penintents will undertake.
To help them in their choices, the High Council may have visions or dreams, and try to find signs and omens passed by the Twins. When these signs have been interpreted the Final Trial is to begin and usually takes place in the Temple at the heart of Gra'akast.
The most common test in history, scholars tend to agree is to present the penintents with various objects to see if they can identify those which belonged to previous Seers.
Once one of the penintents emerges as a true contender from the Final Trail she will spend three nights at the altar of The Twins to receive the Immortal Spirit, after which she will study The Wandering scriptures in order to prepare for spiritual leadership.
Some fringe scholars have claimed and wrote essays, that there is a chance that she will not be reborn, if no penitents emerge from the Pilgrimage or if they are found wanting by the Twins.
