Through the Sands pt. 3
He found these thoughts irritating, having made similar deals long before. It was a simple process of living that people would die from your actions.
His thoughts focused on Silina however, maybe saving her had been an unknowing attempt to right that wrong? Tarmen didn’t know if he liked that thought either. He had simply taken advantage of those rats taking their attention off of him and she had proven to be a useful ally, yeah.
This path led him to look at his bandaged arm. He still tried moving his hand and fingers just to see if they still worked, though he had noticed a delay in his little and third finger. Something vital had been severed and the implications of such a wound was yet another stone to weigh on his mind.
It did bring him back to the present however and he settled on pitching the tent while Silina continued her own work.
This provided a time of quiet focus between the two before Tarmen finished and lay inside the created shade as the sun’s heat began to be felt in force. He was about to fall asleep when Silina joined him with a pile of mush, already chewing a piece.
He nabbed his own, interested in trying a wild specimen compared to Ekero’s supply, though found them fairly similar. Still delicious and a welcome moistness against the drying air.
Silina made a comment, Tarmen recognizing Gra’akast and looking at her for more explanation. Here she displayed her own learning, searching for words she had picked up from him.
“One day. Gra’akast.”
He nodded at the news, still hoping for answers from this holy city everyone seemed to be worked up about.
He mostly wanted to find Alexis there and whispered a prayer to Zin that she was spared from her embrace. He hadn’t put much thought towards what would happen if she wasn’t.
After a few more pieces of pulp were eaten, Silina took what was left and hung them to dry throughout the day. The two then lay in silence, waiting for sleep to take them before the final leg of their journey.
