A Chance To Rest
The city was ancient and worn; it suggested a greater past. Perhaps one of more opulence than what Islana's eyes were currently taking in. Still, when she walked through those gates, Islana felt a sense of home, even more so than the desert sands had provided. There was an intrinsic beauty here, even among the ruins. The Jewel of the Desert lived up to its name.
The woman with the fiery hair, and green eyes even with the scarf on her head stood out and likely even more so being escorted through the streets by a Priest. Even if this path didn't have a lot of people on it; all of them were watching the trio.
It seemed like ages since Kaithak hadn't been by her side when night fell. The young witch's first instinct was to call him back; but she wasn't ready, not yet. Not after what had happened. It was doubtful the falcon would go far. He'd come back, as always. Islana silently reassured herself.
It was a strange feeling as the priests fell one by one to their knees. How does one get used to that kind of reverence? It was so different what Islana had encountered most of her life.
The hour it took to get to the living quarters seemed to take forever. A sigh of relief upon reaching their destination was quickly evaporated by the knowledge that the traveling companions would be separated.
Islana gave a small smile to Madaya, trying to non-verbally relay that it would be alright. Before the younger witch was dropped off in her room.
Then the redhead was led to her room and the door closed behind her. The room was small, and sparse. Having no windows made Islana glad now that Kaithak had flown off. There was a simple desk, chair, and a cot.
A tray of food and water was brought to the room, not long after Islana's arrival. It was a basic meal of bread and a small bowl of a simple stew.
The food made the woman's stomach growl, and it was then she realized how hungry she actually was. Every bite was consumed and the water drank.
With a full stomach, tiredness took over. When was the last time she had slept on an actual bed? So long ago, Islana had almost forgotten what it felt like. The cot felt like the most comfortable bed ever, for the moment, and sleep quickly took over.
