Obelisk of Fate
Agizul looked up at the two. Tears of joy and relief still staining his face. The young child was still smiling happy to see a friendly face and he found himself smiling back at her, his heart bursting with thanks to the Twins for having delivered her here.
The older girl's words brought him back from his thoughts and grounded his emotions. Despite the warm glow and gladness that filled his heart he knew this was going to be a problem. Yet again an Helian involved in their most sacred rite, emerging from the desert, carrying the body of their ancestral enemy as a weapon, likely to have walked the Pilgrimage herself.
He stood up from the sands and bowed once more to the two. His eyes however went to Islana. Her fair skin had endured the brutal heat of the desert poorly. Her body clearly ached and showed signs of her many struggles.
But her hair seemed to shine to him. Her fiery red hair, blew slightly in the evening breeze, just like the First Seer herself as she emerged from the crucible that changed her life and birthed Sister Locust. He could almost be forgiven to imagine he had been transported two thousand years into the past.
What were the Gods playing at, he wondered. A child of the faith's enemy, here, claiming to have received The Call. It was to much to contemplate. He shook his thoughts away.and addressed the woman almost reverently.
"It is forbidden. To ensure that the Trials are not adulterated, the penitents cannot address anyone until the council of The Wandering calls for them and the Trial is performed." He explained. He stepped to the side and pointed at the city.
"I will escort you in. You are safe now..."
Agizul did not know how wrong he was.
