Uncomfortable Reverence

Islana felt uncomfortable with the kind of attention that Madaya's precise and animated telling of the Skara encounter had brought. Even if, in this case, it might have been deserved, there was still a little voice telling her it was too much.

The Sk'elep was a spirit? That explained a great deal of what had occurred. At one point, the witch would have been surprised by that revelation, now she wasn't. Too much had happened for any kind of shock from this knowledge. Still, the gratitude towards the spirit would be eternal.

You came with the invaders but stand apart. By blood and birthright. Viher's words came back to her, as the old woman spoke.

The priests, Agizul and Amastan, had mentioned the same, that the first Prophetess had been a Priestess of Fosia. The questions came back. Was it possible that Islana was somehow related to the first Prophetess? If that was the case, it brought up so many more questions.

Maybe, the story of her mother's past and that of her ancestors would never be answered. It was possible the young woman would just be left with these questions her entire life.

One by one, heads were lowered, in reverence to her and Madaya. Islana wanted to tell them it wasn't necessary, but for some reason that felt like it would be the wrong thing to do. So, she just remained quiet, not really sure how to respond to what was happening.
