Cautious Travelers
The focus was on getting to Gra'akast. Islana's injuries didn't disappear with the appearance of the God, not that the huntress thought they would. Still between the calling and sense of urgency pulling both penitents forward their speed had increased.
There were so many questions, some which Islana hoped would be answered when she got to the city, and others which might never have an answer. One that greatly pressed on her was who to trust with the information about the killings.
Islana really wished she could talk to Alexis about all the killings. She really wished she could talk to both Alexis and Gonyaul about all of this. There it was again, that feeling of missing them not that it ever went completely away.
Her gaze fell upon the girl next to her. For her entire life Islana had been the youngest. The youngest child in her family. The youngest person at Vasant's place. Youngest among her friends. Now she was several years older than her traveling companion and also had become the girl's protector. She didn't regret a moment of it but did wonder how her role got changed.
The sight of the caravan up ahead, gave the young witch pause. They didn't have any idea who the murders were so trusting strangers wasn't advisable. Islana slowed down her pace a little, and had Madaya do the same. Intentionally trying to not catch up with the caravan
Of course though, the two witches felt like they couldn't stop moving or slow down too much. Islana figured that despite the effort, given the caravan was moving at a slower pace, they would meet each other eventually.
The most thing to do, was be on guard and take things as they came.
