Internal Anger
It was a horrible revelation, and as far as Islana was concerned, the murdering of those on the pilgrimage was an evil act. She assumed most of the girls were unassuming and more trusting than herself. The way the younger witch next to her was. That would make them easy targets.
Comfort was given to her young friend, as best as the redhead could. It took a while for Madaya to calm down and Islana certainly couldn't blame the girl.
The older witch knew she needed to not do the same. There was sadness for the lives lost and concern for their own safety, but there was something else. It wasn't something Islana felt often, though more since coming to Arcadia. The young woman was pissed.
What was it with people in Arcadia wanting children dead? Crazy people. She had helped stop one group of zealots from sacrificing a child. Was this another group like that or something different? It felt different but Islana didn't know why.
None of those feelings of anger were shown outwardly. There was no reason to upset Madaya even more. Instead she let it linger inside, to be pulled out when the moment was right.
It took the young girl several minutes to settle enough to drink some water and listen to Islana's words.
"I am not going to let anything happen to you." Islana managed to say in Ozanine or enough of it to get the point across. She meant every word, despite the condition of her body and mind.
It was doubtful either of them were getting back to sleep. Even Kaithak had woken up by this point.
If the huntress had been alone she might have left despite the time, but there were too many dangers at night with a child with her.
So, they waited. Islana attempted to keep Madaya calm. Kaithak watched them with great interest. He even nuzzled up next to the child, probably sensing something was wrong.
At first light, the three set on their way. Hopefully, the arrival at Gra'akast would happen today with no problems before then.
As Islana kept a watchful eye out, attempting to remain focused. The memory of hive mind still lingered in her thoughts but the murders were a far more pressing issue.
Her mind focused on getting to the city and trying to figure out who she could trust enough to tell.
